You make your way down to the front porch. Front Porch This is the enclosed front porch of your home. Your front garden lies to the south, and you can re-enter your home to the north. On the doormat is a pile of junk mail. [Well I had the manual so...]
Ok. There's nothing there. Well, there are a few soiled handkerchiefs, a book you thought you'd lost, a couple of foreign coins, and something else which can't be fully described in a family game, but nothing you'd actually want.
I drank my first legal alcoholic beverage when I was 16.
As you pick up the toothbrush, a tree outside the window collapses. There is no causal relationship between these two events.
Taken.
Opening your gown reveals a thing your aunt gave you which you don't know what it is, a buffered analgesic, and pocket fluff. [If it helps, on my first playthrough I lost the Guide practically as soon as I got it.] You swallow the tablet. After a few seconds the room begins to calm down and behave in an orderly manner. Your terrible headache goes.
You are now wearing your gown.
It's hard to open or close the pocket unless you're wearing the gown.
Luckily, this is large enough for you to get hold of. You notice something in the pocket.
Good start to the day. Pity it's going to be the worst one of your life. The light is now on. Bedroom The bedroom is a mess. It is a small bedroom with a faded carpet and old wallpaper. There is a washbasin, a chair with a tatty dressing gown slung over it, and a window with the curtains drawn. Near the exit leading south is a phone. There is a flathead screwdriver here. There is a toothbrush here.
Very difficult, but you manage it. The room is still spinning. It dips and sways a little.

However, you have no time for surprise because the ceiling is collapsing on you as your home is unexpectedly demolished to make way for a new bypass. You are seriously injured in the process, but on your way to the hospital a fleet of Vogon Constructor ships unexpectedly arrives and demolishes the Earth to make way for a new hyperspace bypass. Ok. [Saved to KHV_BossedUp] There are many pieces of mail. Most are from some computer company called Infocom which wants you to buy their games. Hidden underneath is an official letter from the local council, dated some two years ago and inexplicably not delivered till now, explaining that a demolition order has been served on your home. The date of demolition is today's date. Astoundingly, a bulldozer pokes through your wall. [I went ahead and restored for you this time to save you some frustration. Personally, I'd suggest starting over from the beginning and just doing everything right from there, thus saving lots of time, but whatevs. You wasted a lot of turns fumbling around before you found that buffered analgesic.]
Ok [Saved to KHV_Main.] You gather up the pile of mail.
Nope. Beer smells terrible.
You swallow the tablet. After a few seconds the room begins to calm down and behave in an orderly manner. Your terrible headache goes. You rush down the stairs in panic. I could see it being presented as a decent romance. The idea of a man falling in love out of defiance to a world where love is strictly forbidden is a great premise for a romance movie even though that was really only a minor subplot in 1984. I'm not saying I like the idea, but it could work. And besides that, what do you expect? The government being okay with a movie speaking out against everything that they're going to do over the next fifty years?
