Nominations will be sent to a number of different staff members, who will then count them and deliver the results to Misty. Categories, as you can see above, are organized into major groups; each staff member is given a group to handle. You will private message the applicable staff member with the user(s) you are nominating. Please take your time to consider nominations, because we ask that you send only one private message to each staff member. Please try to utilize only the user’s current username. We will not hunt someone down if you put their past username or a nickname they go by, and we reserve the right to ignore the nomination all together if you neglect to follow this. For example, if Billy recently changed his username to William, I would write ‘William’ in my private message. Hey guys! As some of you may know, our Cutscene Archive has had the same design for many years now--it actually dates back to when Deathspank was around! It worked just fine and was good when there were only a few Kingdom Hearts games, but now that the series has almost doubled in size, I thought it was time for something a little easier on your scroll wheels. I'm proud to say that it's just been activated today! You can click the link on our navigation bar (Media -> Cutscene Archive) to reach it, or click the preview below: While I was at it, I decided to have a go at the Podcast page as well! The episodes no longer autoplay when you click the page, it's been added to the navigation bar, and there's a lot of information on how you can get involved in the podcast. Each episode is also available for direct stream or download. I have tested the pages in all browsers and they seemed to work fine (IE7 in particular looked a little wonky but if you're using it, you should consider updating to a newer version of IE, or a different browser altogether). The links should all be accurate as well. If you find any problems, please post here and let me know! Otherwise, have a fantastic night and enjoy the design.
Because apparently people notice when I don't log in for a whole day? I'll be gone for the better part of this weekend, I'll be heading upstate to look at some houses. Where my Downton bros at I've been meaning to watch this show for some time, but my friend and I recently sat down to watch it together (though he's up to date with the series). I was hooked on the first episode, hah. I'm still only on season one (just watched Episode Five tonight!) and aahhhhhh it's so good! Spoiler: anything up to the end of S1E05 Edith is devil spawn, for real. I would feel bad for her if she wasn't such a bitch. :l I mean Mary is... kind of messed up herself but I absolutely love her. O'Brien is a witch too though, and I hate Daisy so much omg. And Thomas too. Thus far I adore Branson and Matthew Crawley, I smell some Branson/Sybil (who I love too!!) action coming on, and I am very excited to see how Matthew and Mary warm up to one another. 8) Maggie Smith is a sassy bitch and I love her. I hope I'm not alone in my obsession. 8(

As some of you know, we recently hosted our first-ever Style Survey, inspired by the helpful results from our previous, more general, User Survey. This time around we had just over 100 submissions, from a whole variety of members (guests, normal members, premium members, even some staff!), which is amazing! All questions were optional, so many simply ticked some boxes, but other left us quite detailed expansions on what they liked (and did not like) about the site's design, and where they would like to see it go in the future; no matter which group you were apart of, truly, thank you for taking the time to fill out the survey! Hey guys, we've got something special for you all! A few days ago, a dedicated member of the Kingdom Hearts community, ultraboard101, approached the staff with an interesting project and proposal for KH-Vids. Before we begin with the details, a bit of information...Many attempts have been made by the Kingdom Hearts community in terms of fan-made games; a few years ago, KH-Vids hosted a section on the forums called "Kingdom Hearts M.U.G.E.N," but it never took off in popularity and was removed after months of inactivity and lost interest. For those who don't know, M.U.G.E.N is a 2D fighting game engine that is enables you to create commercial-quality fighting games. Almost everything can be customized, from individual characters to stages, as well as the look and feel of the game. ultraboard101 is utilizing the M.U.G.E.N engine to create what looks like the most impressive Kingdom Hearts fan-game to date, and we at KH-Vids hope to help promote his project and offer whatever support we can along the way... as well as enjoy the actual end product! Hey everyone; as you may have noticed, the forums went down earlier! You also may have noticed that some post counts are now different. To explain: Firstly, quite some time ago the forum was asked whether we should consider making posts count within the Roleplaying Arena, primary reason being that roleplaying is a legitimate activity, with many posts having a great deal of detail put into them. It was, for the most part, agreed that it was a bit unfair to frequent roleplayers to be stuck with a very low post count, despite being perhaps one of our most active members. There were objections to this, but a compromise was reached wherein only posts within the Roleplaying Arena that fell above a certain character count would add to the user's post count. We're excited to say that this is now the case! To all those who roleplay, we hope you will enjoy this bonus, and that it will encourage you to keep posting on KH-Vids; to members who are not roleplayers, maybe now it's time to take your first excursion into that section! We feel that this is a large move towards equality between the regular denizens of sections. This change is not retroactive: meaning, older posts within the Roleplaying Arena will not now follow this rule, and bolster older roleplayers' post counts. Only posts made after this date will follow this rule. Secondly, during the process we have also updated our post counters. Over time, with deleted posts, moved threads, etc., post counters can begin to grow inaccurate. For example, if a thread was previously within a section that counted posts (like, say, Discussion) but was later moved to a non-counting section (The Playground, Spam Zone, and so on), this sometimes would not be reflected within the users' post counts. Especially with our recent Forum Rearrange, and the fact that this update has not been run in several years if ever, post counts have been highly inaccurate; this is the case especially for members who have been with us for many years. Updating the post counters ensures that everyone's posts are now fully accurate. Many users have lost a number of posts from their counts, while some have, happily, gained some! We apologize to those who have taken hits--I myself have lost around 1200--but hope that your understanding will stem from the fact that these numbers are completely accurate. If you have fallen by quite a lot, we can only suggest that you use this as motivation to post more, and move up to where you used to be!

Hey everyone! As some of you may know, the User Awards run every summer. It is getting time for the 2012 Awards! Instead of launching straight away into category suggestions, I thought I would pose a question to y'all: what would you like to see in this year's awards? What were your complaints with the previous years? Just looking to improve and thought I would ask you guys directly! Also, if you've any general questions about the awards, feel free to ask them here. Category lists will be posted in due time. :)
[h=1]Nominating Rules[/h] You may only nominate two members per category. You must send the correct nominations to the correct staff member. If you do not, we reserve the right to completely disregard your nominations—but we’d rather not do that! More information on this will be found in the nominations thread, when it is posted. Only send one message to each staff member. For example, even though you are sending Xavier Thread Nominations and Best/Worst Member Nominations, just put it all in one message. Please directly copy and paste the categories. You do not have to nominate for each category, please just leave an N/A in the space. For example, if I choose not to nominate anything for Thread Nominations, I will still include it in my message. This just makes organization easier for our staff members. Please try to use a member’s current username. Do not nominate using nicknames, real names, former usernames, etc. We will not hunt down who you are referring to. You may not nominate yourself. While we allow and encourage campaigning for categories, please limit it to your signature and avatar space. Do not create threads, post on others’ profiles, message members, or any other form of badgering, for nomination. If you are found bullying members into nominating or voting for you, you will not be allowed to participate in this year’s awards. Please do not nominate inactive members. The 2012 User Awards cover the period from the end of the 2011 Awards (roughly August of last year) to the present, so please consider that. For example, if Joey was a sectional moderator in February of 2011, do not nominate him for Best Sectional Moderator in 2012—give this year’s sectional moderators a chance to win! [h=1]Voting Rules[/h] Polls will be public, therefore we can check if someone is creating alternate accounts to boost the votes for a particular member. If you are found participating in this behavior, you will be removed from this year’s user awards, and face our typical alternate account punishment. It is not required that you post in the thread of the poll, but it is encouraged! You may not vote for yourself. If you would not like your name submitted for any category, please message me and I will take your name out of running. I can also remove you from any polls you appear in. I was inspired to make this topic after reading this article (bit of a disclaimer, Jezebel is a strongly liberal and feminist news site, if you do not like these things I would advise caution). It got me thinking: are we adequately equipping kids with basic life skills? Do you know how to do things like iron, clean household messes, work the washer/dryer, sew buttons, pump gas? What about others around your age? Where did you learn these skills? I do think it is the responsibility of the parents to teach these things, but not everyone has the benefit of attentive parents/guardians. Especially in our current economy, many people have both parents working, and hardly any time to learn these sorts of things. Therefore, I think we could benefit from requiring a class like this be taught in middle and high schools, perhaps even elementary for some of the more basic tasks. Personally I don't think I do too bad--I learned to use the washer/dryer in fifth grade and have been washing my own clothes (and sometimes my family's) ever since. I learned to iron shortly after. I took my first and only Home Economics-esque class in the 7th grade (I was twelve, for those confused by American schools lol), where we learned to use a sewing machine and make biscuits, basically. I wasn't really pleased with the class, it was only about five weeks long (40 minutes a day, five days a week) and I hardly remember anything from it. I've honestly no idea how to pump gas or change my car's oil. We were discussing this in my Sociology class where a classmate said "If you don't know how to pump gas you shouldn't have a license," which, while a bit extreme, is a decent point. He remarked about two minutes later that he had no idea how to work a washer or dryer though. :L He's 18. Maybe it's just around here, I live in a pretty affluent neighborhood, but I just feel like there's this huge loss of knowledge in terms of basic life skills. A lot of kids end up being forced to find a way to do them in college, and develop bad habits that stick with them for the rest of their lives. I'd love to know how to cook, really, haha. I suppose I could look up recipes on my own and all, but I hardly even know how to do any basic recipes. Left to make myself dinner, I usually end up making pasta, heating up leftovers, or putting some pre-cooked food in the oven. v: I think we could definitely benefit from more/mandatory Home Economics classes. So yeah. Interested to hear if I'm not the only one, hah.
