Sorry for the delay in these guys, but Cycle 3 is now going up!

Hey everyone! The KH-Vids staff has an exciting announcement for you all. As you can see, KH-Vids has changed a little bit since you last saw it. That's because we have just moved over from vBulletin to a new forum software, Xenforo.

What does this mean? It means a snazzier and more secure forum for you guys!
    Xenforo is:
    - New: Unlike vB, it does not use code from several versions back as a basis.
    - Secure: Common exploits that plague vBulletin are a nonissue on Xenforo.
    - Flexible: A thriving mod community and consistent work from the Xenforo team has made Xenforo a great platform for smooth and complex forums.

So what do I have to do? Nothing -- you do not have to re-register and you did not lose any posts, unlike the move from phpBB to vBulletin. Accounts and posts have been transferred over for you.

What WAS lost in the move? There are several minor modifications without equivalents that we lose on Xenforo, but the staff made sure to check for equivalents on anything important before considering this step.

So what do I do for now? As you can see, the transfer caused as bit of downtime. There are likely still a few minor things to work out as we get used to Xenforo. The staff asks for your patience and understanding while we set the new board up. Not everything is up just yet--we thought it better to allow members back into the site while we work, so you can all familiarize yourselves with the new software.

I'm really confused about new features, why the staff made this move, etc. That's what our staff is here for! The Administrators may be a little busy right now (understandably so!), but the rest of our staff is here and ready to answer your questions and extend whatever help they can. Feel free to post.

We apologize for the wait, but we're excited to take this new step for the KH-Vids.net community with you all! Enjoy the new forum!

    Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all excited about our recent move to Xenforo! We definitely are. If you want more details about that, please click here for our official unveiling message.

This thread is for a bit more of an unhappy purpose. Some members have been banned. We do not usually do this, but given the situation, we felt that it would be better to inform you directly rather than let speculation and misinformation run rampant.

Basically, a group of users chose to utilize holes in vBulletin’s security to access our staff forum—a key tool for us, without which pretty much nothing could be done—and download archives of our threads, later circulating them amongst members.

While the move to Xenforo had many considerations, like feature availability, ease of use, modern design, etc., security was a large part of that. We long suspected something along these lines was going on, but have found concrete proof during our move and banned the involved members. Obviously we have no way of knowing the scope of who these thread archives reached, so we have only banned those members we have concrete proof against. We are still researching the issue, and urge you to come forward to a staff member if you have any information.

We are confident that, with this change in software, the forum is secure. However, if you wish to lockdown your account, here are some steps you can take:
    • Using a unique password, with mixed case, numbers, symbols, etc.
    • Using an email address with an equally strong password
    • Changing your password every few months
    • Being careful about what computers you check the ‘Remember Me’ box on
    • Not sharing your account details with anyone
    • If you must write your passwords down, doing so in a safe location

We take hacking very seriously here. Those who may consider attacking the site in the future should remember that even a threat to do so will land you a permanent ban at the least.

If you have additional concerns or questions, please feel free to contact myself or another staff member. However, please note that these members’ bans are not up for discussion or debate. They have broken one of our core rules and this is their punishment.

We hope that this new era for KH-Vids will aid us in building the strongest iteration yet.

    Most sincerely,
    The KH-Vids.Net Staff

Hey all, just a small social media update here, but we've been gaining a lot of followers lately! We hit two landmarks in the past two days, on our Tumblr and our Twitter accounts.

Our YouTube channel isn't doing too shabby either, with over 750 subscribers and 120,000 video views. We'd like to thank everyone who has been kind enough to follow us and show their support--and if you don't already, maybe now is a good time to! :)

    Well that didn't take long.

Wooo but once this launches I will definitely be playing the game haha. I tried out the free trial and would be willing to buy the game, but never pay a monthly fee. Seems like the sort of thing I'd only play when I was really ored.

Hey all! Those of you who follow our Twitter have been kept up to date all day about the Launch Party event in New York City, which Wolfie, Mike, and I were all lucky enough to attend. I did my best to cover the event with videos and photos, and will compile everything from Twitter into one handy update in this thread, as well as some details on the event!

Around 7:00AM I got into Penn Station. After wandering around a bit, I found a waiting area and sat until Wolfie's train got in, about 45 minutes later. We found each other and, perhaps in an effort to ignore the awkwardness of "hello I know you from the internet," quickly set off for Rockefeller Center, where the Nintendo World Store is located. Despite being a New York native, I made Wolfie do the majority of the navigating because I was preoccupied with not being attacked. We arrived at Rockefeller Center around 8:00AM, where we quickly found Mike, who was dressed in quite a snazzy outfit!

    (click all images to enlarge)

We were towards the back of the line when we got there, but more people started arriving, and the line stretched for what we estimated was four city blocks. Lots of Kingdom Hearts fans excited to get the game!

When it reached 9:00AM the line began to move as they let people in the store. To avoid overcrowding, they were only allowing about twenty people at a time into the store, so we had a ways to go. By 9:10AM, the Mark of Mastery edition was completely sold out.

We ended up being in line for about three hours (in hot, muggy weather no less!). It wasn't all bad though--we were surrounded by Kingdom Hearts fans. Everyone was very friendly and nice, and we saw some awesome cosplays!

As we waited in line we received updates from what was going on in the store from the official Kingdom Hearts Twitter. You can take a look at some of those pictures below. They had a Kingdom Hearts tee shirt raffle which I would have loved to enter, but it was over before we were even close to the store.

As the Nintendo World Store came into sight, we heard an announcement that they were running low on the standard copies of Dream Drop Distance. We were worried! I wasn't buying the game but both Mike and Wolfie intended to. The employees later announced that those near the front of the line would be given a wristband, which guaranteed them a copy of the game--anyone without one was, unfortunately, out of luck. We were close but we knew it'd be a stretch. Fortunately, we lucked out and got some of the last wristbands--think we ended up being part of the last five given out!

At this point we were pretty excited and didn't at all regret the wait. And we drew ever closer to the store!

Finally, we were in! The retail line for the game was very short (and the store wasn't packed at all--it ended up being a good decision to stagger entry into the store), so we got straight on line to buy the game. Here's a video of us once we got on; I apologize for the audio and the angles, first time with an iPhone, heh.

And finally--after three hours and forty minutes--the games were ours!

The last copy was sold at 11:44AM.

We then moved on to the Keyblade posing zone, where fans were invited to take pictures with an official Keyblade! These pictures were uploaded to the Kingdom Hearts Facebook page, so you can check out a whole bunch from the fans who attended!

After all that, we went around the store and enjoyed the displays and decorations. I took a good deal of pictures of those, so check 'em out!

There was also an awesome display case, I wanted to move about the store some so I just took a video panning down it. It had some really neat action figures!

We went to the second story of the Nintendo World Store just to check it out at that point.

And then headed downstairs for more Kingdom Hearts goodness!

They had a table where you could write postcards to the Kingdom Hearts development team!

And a video of us writing is here.

Lastly, we clambered over to the demo station, where you were allowed to give the game a try! I was the first to go, and I... did pretty terrible. You can check out the video of me playing here. Wolfie had a bit more luck than me in her try! I also took a video of Mike playing but I accidentally deleted it. ;c

The demo was a lot of fun though! I haven't played a Kingdom Hearts title since Re:Chain of Memories, so the gameplay was very new to me, but it seemed really neat! I was also impressed by the Flowmotion; really flashy! The graphics of the game were solid too--comparable to the Playstation 2 titles! We didn't play with the 3D on because we were filming the screen, but I'm sure it was awesome!

We left the store a bit after 12:00PM and got a bite to eat.

This pizza by the way was delicious, the place was just across the street from the Nintendo World Store, so if you guys ever visit I highly recommend it!

And that about concludes our coverage! Mike and Wolfie also took pictures and video so I'm sure they'll reply to this thread with them once they get online. I would like to think Square-Enix and Nintendo for hosting the event, even if they kind of fumbled with the number of copies available the decorations were so amazing and the employees were all so kind! I'd also like to thank you guys for following our coverage and not making too much fun of my smile. P: We feel so lucky that we were able to go!

So as I'm sure you all know, Dream Drop Distance released this Friday in Europe! With members purchasing their copies and getting their preorders in, many are doing "unboxings"--showing you what they got with the game and displaying the packaging for other fans. Definitely fun for those who didn't get a certain preorder, or who aren't able to get the game (for whatever reason). So what we're inviting you to do is share your unboxing pictures, videos, and experiences within this thread. Anything sent in will be edited into this post, and will therefore appear on our homepage! I expect we'll primarily be getting entries from European fans, but if you're in North America or Australia and got your game, feel free to post it!

You can either post your stuff in this thread, or send it in to me via private or visitor message.

The first video is on behalf of forum member Limit-Sora, who got his copy a bit early!

You can check out his YouTube channel here, where he's also doing a Let's Play of the game.

    Thread

    Rules

Because many of you expressed that you were unhappy with the newly posted rules, we've decided to post this thread where you can explain to us what exactly your objections are. The spam zone is a bit too unorganized and informal for such a discussion; it would be much easier on the staff if posted here, as we believe posts in the Suggestions forum will be more constructive and mature. Simply posting "I don't like the rules because they offend me" is very unclear and difficult to respond to, for us; we would prefer it if you included sections that you do have issues with, and why. Specific suggestions on what to add to the rules are also appreciated.

We are willing and open to listen to any problems you may have with them (that is the point of this thread after all), and though there are some points that you will find us inflexible on, we will at the very least explain the reasoning behind them and try to meet you guys halfway. In return, we ask that you offer us the same openness to compromise, and listen to what we, as the staff, have to say, both as members of the forum and as members of the staff.

Everyone is welcome to post here, regardless of how you feel overall about the newly posted rules, how long you have been here, whatever. You are also welcome to respond to the posts and complaints of others, if you feel it necessary; everyone is on the same level here.

    Thanks.
