Atreyu watched his footing carefully. He didn't know how well this mountain side would hold up. It could be soft from unseen animals treading it constantly, or it could be hard from the lack of life around here. He didn't know which it was and thought it best to play it safe.
There was a good sized tree a few paces in front of him, and others next to it. If he cut some branches from them, he could make a pretty decent fire. Keiran would do the lighting, of course. The limbs of the trees were thick and surprisingly well nuroushed for being so high in the mountains. Atreyu manged to cut loosed a few branches with his dagger and hands. Then he had a thought. If the trees were in such good shape, would they have fruit in them? He doubted fruit trees would grow in a place like this, but it didn't hurt to look. He set down what wood he'd gathered and climbed up the tree. There was no food of any kind in the one he climbed.
"Oh well. I still have what I brought. That should be good enough. And I'm sure Keiran can do some hunting if it becomes necessary." He convinced himself it was a reasonable plan, and right now he needed to get back to where he and Keiran split. They could look for some shelter together.

Fawn snapped her fingers. "That's right! You guys need pixie dust to fly! Silly me; I'm like a critter after hibernation." She laughed, amused by her animal fairy humor, and flew around the children to cover them with pixie dust.

Ah, that's a good point. You may be right there. Maybe they did it so that there wouldn't be a confusion of authority (for the sake of a quick plot without any side tracking). But I do think Stoik > Elder.

This may be a question for the author, but why don't dragons like smoked eel? D: I think it tastes yummy [in sushi]. I bet there's a story behind that!

I looked at the trailer on YouTube and it looks good! Thanks for the link. =)

Another character I thought could have used a bit more was the elder of Berk. She just shook her head, nodded, and smiled. I thought she'd at least say something. Maybe it was a way to add age and wisdom to her, but I didn't go for it. Eh, it's probably just a personal thing for me. Anybody else agree?

Scattered trees covered the area Atreyu and Keiran had come to. Atreyu figured he could gather some branches and make a fire. It would not be for cooking -- he had decided not to eat that night, save the food for tomorrow -- it would be for warmth. Thinking of staying warm now, Atreyu looked around for a cave or somewhere he could keep out of the winds. Staying away from the winds would be better for the fire too.
"Keiran," Atreyu began. "Why did we come here? It's a strange place, don't you think?" Atreyu got a head shake and a poutful snort in reply. "Alright then. Go find yourself some food. I'm saving what I have for tomorrow. No one will see you once the sun goes down."
With Keiran eagerly bounding off to find something to eat, Atreyu occupied himself with gathering firewood.

DragonHeart, huh? I will look into that. Thanks. =)

I saw the movie again today [with a friend that hadn't seen it before] and it was even better the second time!
This time around, I noticed more about Gobber. It seems to me that he was friend of Stoik since they were young boys. All the remarks he makes throughout the film suggest a deep connection between the two. And that is proved when
Gobber stays with Stoik to fight the Green Death.
I think there's more to learn about Gobber, and I have to say that I'm interested to learn it. I'd like to see some history (dare I say flashbacks?) of those two.
