My theory is this:

The 3 armored figures aka Chasers are the descendants of Sora, Riku and Kairi. Nomura said that they are new characters for the unnamed game. Maybe the letter, that the 3 protagonists received, was a warning of what will happen in the future. We all know that it was sent by the King himself but what if he traveled in time using the dark portal that Namine opened- we dunno where the portal actually leads to. What's make it more mysterious is what made the protagonists sure that the portal leads to Destiny Islands. There's probably a glitch to it or maybe, Namine was destined to send King Mickey to the time when the Keyblade War occured. Maybe when Sora and Riku was in the realm of darkness, King Mickey was in the future. Maybe he was watching the Keyblade war go on but how can that be done in just 10 mins? My answer, imagination works it way or Mickey was sent back to the past and serve as a guardian of the letter that may coontain the warning of the upcoming keyblade war.

The bald guy - Resurrected Xehanort's Heartless or maybe Xehanort himself. His thirst for the knowledge about the heart made him crazy or made him start the Keyblade War. A heart for a heart is, probably, his goal. The Keyblade is a powerful weapon; it can only be wielded by a person who has a pure heart. "What if the keyblade wielder wants supremacy over his fellow keyblade wielder?" -this question may be on the bald guy's mind. Maybe, he made the move by extracting a pure heart so that he'll continue his research. i dunno how he extracted a pure heart but the consequence was, the Keybladers were acting in a BR way. Killing each other for the will to survive and for supremacy. The hearts that were extracted is the key item for Kingdom Hearts to open!

Since there were no Keybladers left, the Chasers are automatically appointed as the guardians of Kingdom Hearts.
