Since so many people ask, the game at the end is called Snafu in the US and Screwball Scramble in the UK from what I hear. <br/><br/>Another "simple" Rube Goldberg machine, but this one is a bit more complex than the previous. It wins a game of Snafu. I guess people could say I "cheated" by using electricity to power on of the cars, but I have done that with most of my non videotaped machines. Anyways, the steps are below:<br/>1) Insert marble into top of wood block marble game.<br/>2) The marble hits some dominoes with just enough force to topple them.<br/>3) The dominoes his another marble which rolls and skids down a Scrabble board.<br/>4) That marble hits another defective marble with a semi-flat bottom (which is how it is balancing on a downhill slope) and bounces it off down a ramp made of scrabble boards. <br/>5) The marble hits dominoes which ascend with the help of wood block "stairs."<br/>6) The domino at the top hits a cylindrical block which slides down what is meant to be used as a marble slide.<br/>7) The block hits a bridge which has a marble just barely held on by friction and moves it just enough to overcome the friction and descend down the bridge.<br/>8) The marble enters a plastic marble game and exits through a ramp at the bottom. <br/>9) The marble is transfered to another ramp and hits more dominoes at the end. <br/>10) The dominoes hit a toy car/train that goes down a ramp and hits a running electric car.<br/>11) *CHEATER ALERT* The car uses electric power to climb up and around a track before falling onto (what a surprise) more dominoes. <br/>12) The dominoes hit a wooden train set piece which topples and shakes a yardstick ramp. <br/>13) A marble game on the end of the ramp receives the vibration of the block falling and makes a marble roll down though it.<br/>14) The marble falls upon a wooden track and creates just enough vibration to get the train on it to roll down.<br/>15) The train hits a wooden train set piece standing upright which falls onto the button to use the catapult and gets the marble inside in the winning area.<br/><br/>Zoom in stupidly for victory.

So, you want to make videogames. well, for starters, you need to know these things......

1. It will take tons of hours out of your life.
2. You cannot give up on a project like this, once you have started.
3. You are going to have to try and try again.
4. Plan before you do.
5. And other things you think you should know for yourself
6. Not only listen to these 6 rules, but apply these 6 rules to your game making.

So......you are right now......no where, so you will have to start somewhere. First you will need something to make games with.

Here is a handfull a free game making software:

-Game Maker (yoyo games)
-RPG Maker
-Game blender (somewhat in blender, don't know anything beyond that)
-adventure maker

-- use google to find others....

But yet, the best software isn't for free, and it might try a hand in programming, which is the one things that "seems" impossible, but it isn't. You can find really good turorials on programming, and I mean for every programming language. So here is a handful of Non-Free software (thats awsome!):

-FPS Creator, FPS Creator x10 (I am getting FPS creator x10 for my birthday!)
-DarkBasic, Dark Basic Professional, Dark GDK
-X Quad Editor
-Game Space

Now, about Dark GDK...its free! The reason I put it in the Non-Free catagory was because it is the power of Dark basic with C++! So if you want Dark Basic, but you want to use C++, try it.

There are also pure programming languages that can make games, such as C, C++, and others, just like DarkBasic, which is a programming language (though it "costs" something, argh!). If you are thinking that you can make games with Lua, Python, and (normal) Basic, then you are wrong, because those are scripting languages, which only help video game making by making scripts.


Now I know that most of you don't want to go straight ahead of yourselves and start creating games from scratch. You can try "Modding" a game, or creating things for that game that involve an editor of sorts. Crysis, for example, has a level editor that allows you to control every aspect of a level that you create, from AI, to what goes on in the level, to how many barrels of deadly gasoline you want. Hey, You can create Giant chickens in your Crysis level (I found this out in a recent How to DIY gaming magazine, not to say that is what got me to start making this tutorial.)!

Now, you are wondering probably, "How is this going to get me in the industry?". Well, take Counter Strike and Team Fortress. They started as mods for the original "Half Life", and then vavle accepted them into their "dominion" of games, so to speak, and released them as actual games! Now they are Counter Strike: Source and Team Fortress 2.

If you want to know how you can mod, you can get the "Source SDK", which is available through "Steam" (Welcome to Steam) for free, and it can modify source related valve games, like "Portal" and "Half Life 2". You can import models, Make levels, and if you are really good, modify pacific aspects of it.

Other games, like "Medievil II: Total War" and "Unreal Tournament III", plus the one I said; "Crysis", as well as a whole lot of others, have editors that come with the game. Some games, if you want to mod them, require you to download a editor from a pacific site, like "Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars".

So, as always, there are tons of tutorials for each editor.


So I hope you search these things using google or Dogpile, because you will need to in order to find the right tutorial for you and your video game making needs. See ya!

what does the keyblade from the roxas battle in Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix, two across, do? What I am trying to get at is.....what is its ability?

Ok, now that I have got a good Idea, I want to play with it.

It is about the axailas, a race of pure data, copied into real life a rae ultra computer found in the nobodies world, made into real life humans. they are the only known computer to obtain life like feelings and a virtual heart so to speak.

Anyway, they are split into goodguys and badguys; the goodguys, like me, will have control over an assortment of weapons and gadgets, and abilities; not keyblades, and the bad axailas are formes into a group, which have control over darkness, and soon the power over heartless.

the objective of the goodguys is to protect soras keyblade. He gives it to them, so that he can stay with King Mickey and his castle to finish some left over buiness. The badguys are trying to steal the keyblade, and want to study it for their own good, and want to make a god-like creature known to man as decurkassendran, who came along time ago beofore man learned of the old ways to live.

You guys need to give the site more freedom. Combine it with drupal, and change the way we see the KH games coverage, the forums (implement the phorum5 module in drupal, and implement drupal into the site), a chat room (implement the chatroom module into drupal, and implement drupal into the site). Also, ask what sp dude wants, so that he could change it to the way he wants to own it. But seriouly, give the site a new look, because you know we all want it, even though V3 wasn't to long ago.
