When people who are obviously very well to do show up at open interviews for jobs that virtually anyone can do.I mean, they can afford to get an education and go into a nice cushy job, but instead they have to go ahead and take jobs that lower class people (like me) actually need because they can't afford to take classes year-round.

I know it's really classist, but it bugs me all the same.

    FIRST UP!

To get y'all hooked on the thread, this is my second biannual con giveaway thread. It's the same as Ohayocon. Winners get stuff from Matsuricon, which is happening from August 22nd to August 24th. I'm doing this early because I'm thinking about it now and I don't know if I'll remember later.

    PRIZES
    1. Post 97 gets a $15+shipping (no matter where you are in the world) souvenir. If you win, make sure to PM me with your tastes around that time so I don't forgeet.
    2. First Kitty to post in this thread gets yuri if it doesn't cost more than $10+shipping.
NOW THEN! I have anime recs for ALL OF YOU. It's all recent too, so probably no dubs just yet. If it is available legally as far as I know, I will link to it.

    Captain Earth (Ongoing)
THIS SHOW IS AMAZING. Think Eureka 7 but with a boomerang instead of a hoverboard. Daichi Manatsu is a normal kid who's living with his uncle because his astronaut father died in a horrible space accident. After going many years without a father, some odd goings on on the island where his father died lead Daichi discover that his father actually died protecting humanity from getting its libido stolen by aliens from Uranus. I KNOW IT SOUNDS LIKE A HENTAI PLOT BUT IT'S TOTALLY NOT. When these same aliens begin to attack the Earth again, Daichi is recruited by his dad's former employers to fight them in a giant robot called the Earth Engine. It's kind of like Evangelion except instead an angsty GET IN THE ROBOT NO DAD I HATE YOU DO IT FINE scene, we get what amounts to:
From there it's a 2:3 mixture of slice of life and giant robot battles. It especially shines with the characters. These are kids who were clearly written by adults who remember what makes childhood unique from any other phase of life. The facial expressions are also pretty great.

The animation is also amazing. At its best, it looks like Studio Ghibli decided to make a mecha anime. Oh, and the season 2 closing song is by Supercell, so there's that.

My Mental Choices Are Completely Interfering with My School Romantic Comedy (10 Episodes)
Kanade would be a pretty normal guy if he didn't get unavoidable and completely nonsensical choices presented to him at random times. It is the funniest show of 2013. That's pretty much all I have to say about it.

Kill la Kill (24 Episodes and one unreleased one that will be on the Blu Ray) (It's also on Netflix.)
Hands down the best thing that ever came out of Japan. 13/10, am currently on my fifth time watching it. It's gotten enough hype on this site, though, so I'm just gonna leave it at that.

    Soul Eater NOT!
Adorable Slice of Life spin-off prequel to Soul Eater focusing on the lives of DWMA students who do not plan on working in combat. It features a lot of the character and world building that the original series sorely lacks. Features Sid before he was a zombie (Did anyone else totally forget that he was black? I did.), Liz and Patty when they were still scary street thugs, and Jaqueline when she was bicurious. Also, the main character is a freakin' halberd, so there's that. Two volumes of the manga currently in English and more to come, anime is already past that. 10/10, accurately depicts a savage but super fun school life.

I will add more later because I am dead tired right now.

    LAST THING!

I'm leaving this Friday. I will be back on August 1st to celebrate my KHViversary and for a few days at the end of August so I can get the prizes shipped to the winners. Until then, use this thread to call me out on all my shit. Do not tiptoe around every teeny tiny little thing that might be offensive to anybody. I have no respect for people who do that.

In case I forget come Friday, laters.

Nobuo Uematsu will probably be remembered among the "greats" of music. You know, people like Beethoven, Mozart, and all those old dudes. For those of you who don't know, Nobuo Uematsu is music composer behind the majority of the Final Fantasy games and, in fact, announced at his 2012 Distant Worlds concert in Columbus, Ohio that he will be in charge of the music for Final Fantasy XV.

At a panel he did at a con after that concert in 2012, I met Nobuo Uematsu, got his autograph, and shook his hand. I have shaken the hand of someone who may very well be remembered for centuries after his death.

    I think that's pretty amazing.
