I think those who care enough about it keep it forever. Everyone has it and has an equal potential, in my mind at least, but some lose sight of it somewhere down the line.

I love this. Very happy feel to it. Those colors go amazing together. Only comments would be your type. If you used a darker hue, I'd be sold on this piece. The heavy weight of the type (and dark color) would counteract wonderfully with the rest of the piece.
Pretty simple little piece. My biggest gripe is really just the sense of unity in it overall though. The type is slapped on, and it kinda looks like the stock is too except with an outer glow. There's a pretty big lack of effects in it, both foreground and background. It might've just been the style you were going for, but yeah it feels pretty empty and unfinished because of those missing elements. Work on your stock more, most importantly. When you're making a tag you can either use the stock as your focal and create effects around it, or create effects and then fit a stock into what's created. Try different styles for your effects, too--smudging, texture, etc. There are many. :) As for your type... well... it's a pretty difficult thing to master in and of itself. Typography is incredibly vast and understanding what typefaces and how much type to put on a piece of art can be pretty difficult to get a feel for. For beginners, I'd really just recommend as little type as possible. Or just mess around with different weights/thicknesses and typefaces until you find something you like. Never have two elements (in this case, you have "never turn your back on the light" and "lucas sinister") of type with similar sizes and thicknesses. Always mix it up. For instance in your tag I'd have probably went with something much smaller overall to not take away from the rest of the tag (which is another issue as well--making sure effects and stock remain the focal--unless you are making the typo the focal point).
