I think the neoshadows show up only in end of the world, though I could be wrong. Anyway, in my opinion, purchasing final mix should only be considered if you're quite the die hard fan. There are additions here and there, but none are necessarily drastic, gameplay-changing material (excluding the "Unknown" boss battle in hollow bastion).
The world that never was. Those neoshadow chaps can be quite the facilitation to your skill-building needs, if I do say so myself.
