Lightning Crystals can be dropped by Strafers and Devastators. Neoshadows don't (they drop Lucid Crystals).

European PS2s only play PAL versions of games, American PS2s only play NTSC versions, and Japanese versions only play NTSC-J.

You could try having your PS2 mod-chipped to be able to play any type, but it can ruin your PS2. Alternatively just buy a PS2 from the relevant country - they're getting pretty cheap nowadays.

I'm guessing it's just the way the video was made. They couldn't have talking the whole time, and as the trailer was designed for the Japanese audience, they would be able to read what they were saying.
