I don't find Eren anywhere near as whiny as Shinji personally...? Or at least not in the same way. Eren gets dangerously, murderously angry where Shinji usually gets more upset/scared. I realized after writing this that I have been ninja'd a few times over about it so I'm just going to leave it as a +1 Anyway I feel it's mostly average personally, but it can also be pretty addicting imo (incessant cliffhangers, lots of mysteries). If you're just reading the manga, I think you'd do well to give the anime a shot, as I really think it better showcases the series' action, which is a huge thing it's got going for it. I really think AoT is a lot better in motion.
Actually, the staff has had a movie club in the planning stages for a little while now! So far what's planned is actually very similar to your idea. Keep an eye out for it in the near future & if you're interested in volunteering to help, I'd be happy to try and work it out so members can volunteer to help run it. It's really not that simple though. If it was, I'm sure many regular smokers would have dropped the habit by now. It's unfortunate, but it's a very real addiction that takes just as much effort as any other to shake. Stopping too suddenly can even do more harm than good. In any case, I have family members who smoke and I can't stand watching it hurt their health, not to mention the smell. Just a brief visit can leave the smell on my clothes for a few days. That in itself has deterred me from trying it pretty effectively so far, and I don't have plans to give it a shot in the future either.
When I was a kid people always thought I was older than I was haha. I think I probably seem about my age now, but I dunno.

That's true, but you're comparing apples to oranges. Baby's first story & middle school-grade fanfiction to officially published and/or produced works costing up to millions. People are saying that compared to products of the same caliber in other parts of the world (namely the West), Japanese writing is lacking. And I'm inclined to agree, except that I really think it's not helped by the fact that it just doesn't translate well. To me, the best examples of Japanese writing here come out of media with tongue planted firmly in cheek, and a carefully written localization.
