From the creators of The Legend of Legacy, The Alliance Alive is a new RPG coming to the 3DS for Japan in spring 2017. Suikoden creator Yoshitaka Murayama created the story for this game, which follows humanity's rebellion against the otherworldly Asmodians who have ruled over them for thousands of years. The story jumps between its nine protagonists, human and Asmodian alike, as their fates slowly converge from across the fragmented world. Battles in the game are initiated by making contact with foes in the overworld. The turn-based combat system utilizes up to five party members at once that you can place in different formations, and emphasizes speed and tempo. Yuri!!! on Ice is a Fall 2016 anime that, surprisingly, has nothing to do with the yuri genre, so if you're looking for that, you may want to look elsewhere. The show follows Yuri Katsuki, a 23-year-old Japanese figure skater who returns home after a nerve-induced dead-last loss at the figure skating World Grand Prix, unsure of if he wants to continue skating or not. For years, he's dreamed of skating on the same ice as his long-time idol, Russian skater Viktor Nikiforov, but the dream seems impossible now after his loss. One day he goes to the local ice rink and performs a flawless imitation of Nikiforov's latest routine; unbeknownst to him, his skating has been recorded and becomes a viral hit on the internet, where it catches the eye of none other than Nikiforov himself. With no warning, Nikiforov shows up at Yuri's family hot spring resort, declaring that he will coach Yuri to victory. Yuri!!! on Ice simulcasts on Crunchyroll on Wednesdays at 3pm ET, with a simuldub by Funimation beginning on October 24 at 10pm ET.

Square Enix announced today that Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue will be getting a limited edition bundle! Granted, it's not a very big bundle--it consists of the game, a collectors' box, and an official Disney Collectors' Pin depicting Mickey and Sora as they appear on the box art of Dream Drop Distance. But on the bright side, everyone who pre-orders the game gets automatically upgraded to the limited edition for free! As revealed at the Tokyo Game Show last month, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue will release on January 24 for the PlayStation 4. SOURCE

The Ancient Magus' Bride: Those Awaiting a Star is a three-episode OVA prequel to the manga series The Ancient Magus' Bride. The story follows Chise, a teenage girl, and the frightening, loveless past that led her to be apprenticed--and betrothed--to an inhuman sorcerer named Elias. The OVA is animated by Wit Studio, who you may recognize as the studio responsible for the anime adaptation of Attack on Titan, as well as The Rolling Girls, Seraph of the End, and Star Fox Zero: The Battle Begins. The first half-hour OVA episode released last week, with the second scheduled to release in March 2017 and the third in September 2017. ...At least that gives me time to read the manga? ;__;

WARNING: FREE-RANGE SPOILERS FOR χ AHEAD So, to recap the ending of χ: Ava starts the Keyblade War by attacking Luxu. You choose not to join the Dandelions. Your use of the Power Bangle to collect Guilt unwittingly created a Nightmare Chirithy, who has been following his own agenda of darkness. You fight in the Keyblade War, battling all of the Foretellers but your own. Aced in particular is fighting to unite all the Unions under his control to maintain order. Eventually you fall to the ground in the Keyblade Graveyard, ready to die, when Skuld and Ephemer appear in a ray of light and reach out to you. When you wake up, you're in Enchanted Dominion, and your memories of the events leading up to the Keyblade War have been rewritten and erased past the point where Ava extended an offer to you to join the Dandelions. Elsewhere in Enchanted Dominion, Maleficent wonders where "that fool" has gone and comments that Sora and his friends won't be able to find her here. -RECONNECT. KINGDOM HEARTS- So that's the end of the browser game, the ending episode to which was titled "Unchained 0," implying that it serves as a prologue to what Nomura calls "season two" of the story. Here's some info we've learned since: The plot of Unchained will move on to Castle of Dreams, a new Disney world, before what would have been the finale in the browser game. In Japan, this will be in October; in the global version, this will be in or after January. Also coming to the game will be Enchanted Dominion, of course, as hinted in the browser game's ending and the existence of Fairy Stars in Unchained's code, and one more Disney world brand-new to the series. If we take Nomura's recent teasings into account, Ventus may be somehow tied up in the plot. The χ-Blade, bafflingly, was absent from the Keyblade War as depicted in the browser game. Was it not the reason for the Keyblade War as Master Xehanort described it, or at the very least a reason? Where is it? So...what now? Where do you think all this is going to go? Discuss!
Apple's Keynote Event today dropped a bombshell when Shigeru Miyamoto came on stage to announce Super Mario Run, a platformer coming to iOS. The game will have a fixed price and no in-app purchases. Mario will move forward on his own in this game, while players tap the screen to make him jump. The game will be available to purchase this December on iPhone and iPad devices, and on other platforms later. EDIT: Official website is live.
