Nintendo will be streaming a special Fire Emblem Direct on Wednesday, January 18. No time has yet been announced. The stream will likely discuss the recently announced Fire Emblem Warriors game for the Switch as well as the previously announced Fire Emblem mobile game. With the holidays and the end of the year upon us, Kingdom Hearts creator and director Tetsuya Nomura has taken to YouTube to record a holiday message for Kingdom Hearts fans! The short video has Nomura tease upcoming events for the series' 15th anniversary--the releases of 2.8 and 1.5 + 2.5 on the PlayStation 4 in January and March respectively, the Kingdom Hearts concert tour beginning in March (which he promises he will attend, but keeps mum on when and where), and upcoming developments in Unchained χ (January has previously been announced to add Proud Mode missions, advancements in the main plot, and a new world to explore, while February will add multiplayer missions). He also wishes all fans a happy holiday season and looks forward to celebrating the 15th anniversary together. You can view the video below with subtitles:

It's certainly been a winding road to get here--Utada herself at one point said she wouldn't due to issues with Disney over payment, then her father at another point Tweeted that she would, then immediately recanted. Now, with Utada fresh off her five-year hiatus from music, we have official confirmation that she is indeed writing a brand-new song for Kingdom Hearts III! The confirmation comes from her father's Twitter, and this time, it seems to be for real. "Actually we have already started," he says in the Tweet. "Sorry for keeping you waiting." While we wait to hear the new song, we'll still have the Simple and Clean (Ray of Hope) Mix EP releasing on iTunes on January 11 to tide us over. The EP is available for pre-order now. SOURCE

Looks like the fifteenth anniversary year is going to be a good year for Kingdom Hearts merchandise--that King Mickey Pop Funko figure won't be the only one we're getting! Nintendo just announced a third game in their acclaimed BoxBoy! series today, titled Goodbye! BoxBoy! The game will release on the Japanese 3DS eShop on February 2. On the same day, a retail bundle will be released, containing all three BoxBoy! games (BoxBoy!, BoxBoxBoy!, and Goodbye! BoxBoy!) on one cartridge, in addition to a 34-track music CD and a new Qbby amiibo! No word on if this will come outside of Japan yet, but keep your fingers crossed! source

First announced at last year's PlayStation Experience, Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is a role-playing game made by Level-5 in conjunction with several key members of Studio Ghibli. This game follows after the first Ni no Kuni game, released as Dominion of the Dark Djinn (never released outside of Japan) and Wrath of the White Witch for the Nintendo DS and PlayStation 3 respectively, though it's not apparent if Revenant Kingdom is a sequel or just another story occurring within the same world. Revenant Kingdom follows the story of a young king named Evan whose kingdom is suddenly usurped, and of a young man named Roland who arrives in Evan's world by mistake. Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom will release for the PlayStation 4 in 2017.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX will both be appearing at Jump Festa 2017 on December 17 and 18! Exactly what it says on the tin, The Game Awards 2016 will honor and celebrate the top games of the past year (December 2015-November 2016). The show will be streamed this Thursday, December 1, at 6pm ET across several platforms, including Twitch, YouTube, IGN, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, VR, and more. In addition to the awards themselves, the show will also feature gameplay footage from upcoming games including Mass Effect: Andromeda, The Walking Dead: A New Frontier, Assassin's Creed VR, and more. You can find more info, including award categories and nominees, at the official site. While the majority of the awards are jury-selected, there are a few categories that will be determined by fan vote that you can vote on at the official site. What are your predictions for the winning games? Personally I'm betting on Overwatch winning Game of the Year, and either Firewatch or Stardew Valley for Best Independent Game.
