Kingdom Hearts Union χ—the χ being pronounced "cross" this time around—isn't a brand-new game; rather, it's a hefty update and rebranding to Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ, which is already available for iOS and Android devices. Not to spoil too much, Union χ brings around what series creator Tetsuya Nomura has long referred to as the "season two" to the story of Kingdom Hearts χ. With the new story comes new real-time multiplayer quests, new Medal mechanics, new worlds to visit, and more. Since fans reached and exceeded the preregistration goals for the game, all players will also be receiving a free 6,000 jewels and seven copies of the new Sora & Roxas Medal! View attachment 47117 It's been a long time coming, but it's official: the long-coveted Mickey & Brooms medal will be coming to KHUχ! Hot on the heels of the announcement of the game's rebranding as Kingdom Hearts Union χ [cross], YouTuber EvangelKaltz caught up with Uχ's producer, Hironori Okayama, and the game's North American Operations producer, Steven Nguyen, at PAX East for an interview about the game. During the interview, Mickey & Brooms, long a sore spot for the global Uχ player base, was brought up. The short of it is that the medal will indeed be coming to the global version of the game! In addition, plans are underway to bring the global version's metagame up to par with the Japanese version. This is part of the team's goal of improving communication with the player base. Sometimes you find a game, boot it up for the first time, and get blown away. But when you replay it, you can't quite recapture that feeling. Are there any games you've played that you want to play for the first time again? I wish I could play Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan for the first time again. I downloaded the free demo for it the day after I got my 2DS; I'd heard the series' name before and it looked kinda neat, but didn't know much of anything about it, so I decided I'd give it a whirl. (Besides, I needed a variety of games to entertain myself on an upcoming road trip.) I didn't expect to be so thoroughly blown away when I played it. The character customization, the music, the mapping, the dungeons, the MUSIC, everything was so perfectly executed and I fell in love. I plugged hours into the demo before I got my hands on the full version (thirteen, according to my Activity Log). I'm hoping Etrian Odyssey V gives me the same feeling...whenever it comes out...

Disney is continuing its series of live-action remakes of animated classics with an adaptation of 1994 film The Lion King, which is...what. Why. They say "live-action," but the characters will all be CGI (a la The Jungle Book), which is...what. Why. This, like the upcoming Beauty and the Beast remake, will be a straight remake of the original musical. Jon Favreau (Iron Man, The Jungle Book) will direct the movie, with Jeff Nathanson (Catch Me If You Can, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) writing the script. The known cast so far is as follows: Donald Glover (Community, Atlanta) as Simba James Earl Jones (Star Wars, Dr. Strangelove) as Mufasa, reprising his role from the original No release date has yet been announced for the movie.

View attachment 46291 Today saw the launch of Proud Mode in Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ! This new mode of the game gives an extra challenge to players looking for something new while offering cool rewards, including a new Keyblade! This update starts players off with fifty available quests, with more slated to come in the future. Proud Mode is accessed by going to Story Quests and then tapping the little red button that says Proud Mode. Proud Mode quests don't allow you to use continues or shared medals, and each quest locks you into using one Keyblade. In addition, each quest will have a specific restriction on the special attacks you can use--for example, one may only allow you to use special attacks with a special attack bonus of a certain percentage or higher, or only special attacks with a maximum limit of how many strikes the attack deals--forcing players to think more strategically about the medals they use. View attachment 46289 ...oh dear Completing the first three quests alone will net you the Sleeping Lion Keyblade! ...But you can only level it up using Electrum Ores, new Keyblade materials only obtained by completing quest objectives. Sleeping Lion is a Speed-oriented Keyblade with powerful multipliers, so it's well worth the effort! It even comes with all of its medal slots unlocked! In addition to Electrum Ores, completing Proud Mode quest objectives will net you Avatar Coins and helpful Medals like six-star versions of Huey, Dewey, or Louie, or Magic Mirrors! Square Enix announced today a special partnership with Marvel to create a series of games based on Marvel heroes over the next several years. Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montréal will be handling the development. Not much about the games themselves is known, but the press release refers to the series as a new universe, implying that the games won't adapt Marvel's existing cinematic or comic universes. More info will come in 2018, but we have a teaser trailer in the meantime. source
The second installment in the sequel trilogy, the title of the newest movie was announced today as Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. Rian Johnson (Brick, Looper, Breaking Bad) is writing and directing the film, and John Williams is returning once again to score it. The film takes place immediately following the events of The Force Awakens.
