Yup. The numbers on the maps are the crystals in mission mode that you can get without defeating enemies. The word "Box" means that there's a box there in mission mode. You have to break it to get the 30 (in this case) points worth of gems.
Easiest: Spyro The Dragon (yes, the first one, on PS1) Hardest: Anything from the Touhou series. on easy mode.

This was ont of my favorite minigames in KH2! After about 100-150 hits, though, I get bored, know that I've already got over the jimjiny objective/total for receiving a gift alter in the game, and fail on purpose. I think I got over 200 once, though.
