Exactly, and it's high time the other side got told this as well, instead of just the unhappy singles.

I wish fewer people would think they are so much cooler because they can do without love.
We've all heard it now, it's nothing to flaunt with. Give folks a break.
Also, if being alone is good enough then you wouldn't care about independence being attractive.

The things I feel for someone I'm in "like" with are very different from what I feel for my friends who I also happen to like. So either your word choice is poor, I'm an exception to the rule, or you aren't making much sense after all.

I've experienced things that I guess one could call love. Thinking about her more often than not, being blind to her flaws, wanting to please in every way possible... I've been there, and if some people won't call it love I would very much like to hear what they call it.
It's a pretty awful basis to start a relationship with though. I'd rather be eternal room mates with someone who's on the same wave length as me than live together with someone I love who is as different from me as day is from night.

I think love exists to anyone who is willing to give it meaning. If the aforementioned "crushes" are love to you, then you have given it meaning. If the biological search for good genes in people of the opposite sex is your definition of love, then you have given it meaning.
Contrariwise, I think "not believing in love" is little more than an unwillingness to define it.

Personally, I try to avoid this problem by seeing love as an abstract concept with ill-defined or no necessary or sufficient conditions. In other words, I treat the word "love" the same way I would treat the word "art". Show me a beautiful painting and I will call it art, but ask me what art is and I will give at worst a stupid and at best an incomplete answer.

    Kids

Kids can be both annoying and fun, but I'm under the impression that I'm more often reminded of the former.
I doubt that I will ever want to have kids, but who knows? Right now I'd rather be the cool uncle or family friend than the parent.
I would consider adoption if I'd ever want to have kids, and if possible, skip the baby age entirely. For let there be no mistake: I feel ambiguous about kids but I abhor babies.

I seldom use them, nor are they used on me. My parents call me "son", my guy friends call me "dude". One of my best friends occasionally calls me "angel", but I guess it's more of a nickname since she doesn't call anyone else that, and only does it when we're alone.
Oh, and my cousin calls me "Chaplin" for some reason.

Yeah, I hear ya. I'm through with hurting people's feelings for that though. I'm content with waiting and lurking. If you are less patient, I suggest that you don't place your bets on this site alone if it's dissent you're after.

I think you're a normal dude who's terrified that this normality would translate into being generic.
If it means anything to you though, to me you're one of the few members who doesn't sound or behave interchangeably with other members.
But then again, I don't really know any members here so I'm speaking out of place.

And no, I will not define "normal" for you.

Indeed. There is hardly ever any real conflict these days, and everyone seems to be pretty good friends. I, for one, find this boring as fuck, which is why I'm not quite as active anymore.

It doesn't suck in the least, I can honestly say I enjoyed the read. The second stanza stands out imo, that one was magnificent.

I see that you've given this newest poem a title. That's good: I prefer titles. The bottled-up anger in this poem is really powerful, as if you're a ticking time bomb. Great sense of rhyming too. All in all, I can say I like this.

It certainly doesn't show that you rarely write. If anything, this poem beams experience. I didn't know you had such a talent, but I do hope you keep writing more: this was a great piece!

I have these on my dA account so I might as well post them here.

    Neck Eater

    My memories screech ever louder
As you infest this room of skin
I let you nail my hands to the walls
Lest they close in on both of us

The life was vamped right out of me
    You enticed behind stained windows
Until a crack fondled its surface
And I blew the glass shards in your face

The neck eater disgorges stolen flesh
That once complied for the need of love
    A woman's tears, a claw finger's beckon
If I could refuse, I would have done so

    I thrust myself into denial
Finding you ankle-deep in lonely blood
The praying mantis prays no more
What is it that you worshipped anyway?

    Faintly I detect a maiden's hymn
Incanting all my oaths she heeds
But let no joyful voice be heard:
For I am intruded once again

"Infest me no longer!", I command
The preying mantis preyed too oft'
But I dare cry as it shrivels into
Vermin that begs the hand for mercy

Comment: Older piece, written in 2008 or 2009, I don't know.

    ===

    Cloud-Covered Moon

A once cloud-covered moon is now exposed
    Ominously looming fairness
As an angel's face stamped in loneliness
Handlessly groping to retrieve its shawl
To blanket the agony of its aching craters
The fog that left it is a vacant mind
Succumbed to the tyranny of liberty
Haunting its way to directions remembered
But having lost the light that made it worthwhile

    For the better, they thought

Comment: Break-up poem. This is newer, but not written today. Hope you like it. Comments are greatly appreciated as always.

This is dificult to answer with a simple yes or no because of the varying degrees of severity of the word "attacker". I don't think I would kill someone in a bar brawl for example. Then again, I know that my sense of self-preservation is fairly high, so I might as well smash his head into a table and make a run for it or something.
If someone were to attack me with deadly force, however, I wouldn't hesitate to do the same. Not out of malice or anything, I just wouldn't be able to put my mind at ease until that person was dead and therefore incapable of chasing me and killing me first.

I hardly ever get angry, if at all, but playing Metal Slug games (on Easy, mind you) is probably a surefire way to vent my anger.

Do you know the Zombieland drinking game? It's when you take a shot whenever the word "zombie" or a derivate thereof is mentioned in the film.
We played the hardcore version, which means you also drink whenever an American city is mentioned.
(The catch: all characters are named after American cities.)
Only two us made it to the end of the movie, and of those two, only I remember the ending...and probably only because I'd seen it before.
