And they say the art of conversation is dead.

Been there, done that, got the Nissan Micra.

Besides, don't you have a personal opinion?

    As I thought

I really enjoyed DMC: Devil May Cry reboot.

Arguably more then Revengance but purely because I loved the art style of DmC. The club level reminded me off a darker Psychonauts level. Also, the simple but deep combat was something I could get my teeth into.

I've realised I'm not a fan of 'Character Actions games' much though. Poor writing and no good reason on why this person is fighting these enemies most of the time. Fun but never any real depth.

Coming out isn't about acting. It's about showing that homosexuals are like anyone you know, famous or not, actress or not.
Again, read my previous post. When Kansas is trying to put forward a bill that allows anyone to refuse homosexuals public or private sector services, then everyone needs to wake up.
Because if America can't even unite to promote gay relationships what's the chances of Russia, China or any other nation with millions of homosexuals living there, being allowed to just be themselves without persecution, stereotyping or even the death penalty in some cases?
I didn't care when Ricky Martin, Tom Daley, Ellen Page, any of them came out. But for thousands of others, it could now mean they have the confidence to finally accept who they are instead of feeling like they have to hide. I'm all up for that.

From what i've watched, it seemss fun, but it looks like i'd get bored of it eventually. Not its problems per se, more the issues i've had with CoD for years. So fast and seems too chaotic, however it seems much fairer than CoD.

Remember, we're still in a world that prosecutes homosexuality as a crime. Even the legalised countires still have bigoted views and rules on place about it.

I suppose the chance of this law being abused is minimal with that many people's consent needed. It just sits somehow wrong in me. I know there are virtuous benefits and i suppose that's why i'm sort of ambivalent towards it, don't mind if we have it or not, because it's pulling me in both directions.

I've known of a few adults with cancer or terminal illnesses and they've done the drink, the drugs, the sex, the once in a lifetime sort of things. Both groups can choose to die, but only one can legally do more with the time they have left than the other. I suppose it just makes me feel that they haven't the chance to live a bit more of a full life. Which I wish they could have. It's emotional more than logical, but euthanasia isn't something that should be taken as strictly logical.

I get that, it just feels somehow strange to allow someone to choose to die at a young age than allow them to drink, smoke, have sex, join the army and so on at a young age. It seems as if it take the choice of death less seriously.
Hypocritical. I think is what i'm trying to say. Because in some cases you can justify underage sex, or lying about your age to join the army. But those actions are generalised. But when it comes to a euthanasia, something you can not come back from unlike my other examples, you are considered to be a special case. It feels somehow irresponsible, hypocritical and foolish.

I'm not against it or for it. I think it's up to the citizens to decide for themselves, and I'll go along for the ride either way. Unless I develop a strong opinion about either side of the argument.

    Not saying all.
And definitely not saying Japanese people. Kazuo Ishiguro is a great writer. But I suppose that's what you get for a British education.
I don't know what the actual education of creative writing is like out in Japan to really comment on whether that's the cause, but more often than not, that's the reason in other parts of the world.

EDIT: Also just researched Murakami quick. Then onto other prominent modern Japanese writers. From what I can tell they all take inspiration from Western novelists, like Stephen King and so on. Though, their topics are frequently criticised, mainly for being quite experimental, at least by Japanese standards.

    Interesting.

I've never really considered any one but adults to 'need' euthanasia. Most kids don't have a choice because their parents are still legal guardians over them.
Don't know how to feel on this. I do agree kids have no real idea about their lives, and the biggest destruction to hope of a normal life is a life filled with pain. That's why teen suicides are so common, because their future ideas are a distorted mess of pain, hardship and sadness and why would they want to live more of a life like that? I suppose it's another case by case thing for me.
I don't like the idea, but I suppose I would fight against it.

If I could bater lard and sell it in a way that sounds tasty, people would easily eat it. Until they died from heart failure. But then i'd just make a Happy Meal version of it and presto! Kids hooked for life.

I didn't think this was news. Then again, most people here are anime and JRPG fans, obviously, and many still defend them.
I also know KH has become fairly terrible ish, with about 4-5 different writers over the course of the series that has basically made it quite mismatched at times. Time travel was the worst thing.

Professional writing. I don't expect most of the world population to be writing anime and video game stories for money.
But pretty much what Star said, compared to the western world, their writing is lacking. Often Japanese follow tropes, clichés, stock characters, regurgitated plots and conflicts. They have depth, but rarely too much of it, with characters who even though have a distinct personality, still end up being clichés. I don't think any culture's modern day writing can be so consistently described as 'convoluted'.

It's not always a bad thing, I still think the craziness of Metal Gear Solid games lends to the more dramatic moments, and it has some of the best character relationships I can remember. And Persona of course, still has some clichés but it does challenge some clichés, having more depth and heart to it.

I kind of think it comes down to Japan being a collectivist culture. The whole society is greater than the individual, sort of thing. More often than not, people will follow the group, meaning nothing really challenges that norm. Unlike in the West where we constantly change and challenge pre existing norms. From what I've seen of some anime, not much has really changed from the late 90s to todays standard. This is definitely true of some game stories. Compared to the West who dramatically changes identity about every decade.

Yes, another generalising statement, but I find it true enough.

    Most Japanese writing is terrible.

It... I mean she, turns into it in the second game XII-2, apparently. Something to do with time travel? It's painful to try and read and make sense of. Who wrote this? The guys behind Lost?
