While it is a nice theory, I don't think it's gonna work.

If Riku became half a Xehanort there, he'd have yellow eyes and pointy ears like the whole family, would not resist when Ansem attempted to use his body to hurt Kairi, and most importantly, MX himself wouldn't deny the fact that he WAS gonna be one of his vessels, but that he grew too resistant of the dark, making him immune to nortification and changing their target to Sora.
So, that scene only meant Xehanort's heartless was present there and that Riku also saw him, nothing else, probably.

Also, it was stated in KH1 or 2 Ultimania, that Maleficent crafted Soul Eater from the Darkness in Riku's heart.

Lexaeus noticed it wasn't Riku anymore in control, but Ansem SoD, that's it.

Sora was wielding his, Roxas's Ven's, Xion was a fake. Roxas switched to Sora's somewhere after CoM, probably after he woke up from Xion drawing too much power from him.

It's harder to notice something that doesn't appeal to you in the story when you're younger, most kids are more worried about bashing monsters with a gigant blunt key alongside characters they love than asking what the hell's going on.

Xehanort's time travel requires giving up your body and then you can go backwards only once, from there on it was only forward until you get another body.
Meanwhile, Pete and Sora could go and come as they please.

The problem here is the lack of explanations, not bad explanations.
The only time they used "A wizard did it" was with Yensid's mad redecoration skills that didn't change anything at all but made the tower look different.

And Versus may be holding back KH3, but as hard as it is, Nomura isn't diverting his attention from the KH story, at least not much.
He wrote BBS and the entire Days script while Versus was in production (If you can call it that), he just messed up on 3D because it raised too many questions in the end.
And while it does suck and makes a lot of stuff seem like bad writing, we can't assume the explanation will be bad just because it's not there yet, or else I'd have given up the series when Sora, Roxas and Xion were swimging the same keyblade around with no explanation.

After all the hell Roxas goes through, the game still managed to end it with a "It got worse" message.

Then there's also CoM as a whole, playing it without playing anything other than KH1 makes the whole "Naminé was messing with your memories" one of the best plot twists in the series for me, specially when Sora forgets Kairi's goodluck charm.

If I'm the target and know it's not the truth, there's no reason to care. Eventually the rumor will just vanish.
If someone decides to hate on me for it and don't trust me when I say it's a lie, I probably wouldn't want to hang out with them anyway.
And in the case there would be any non-social consequences to me, I'd just ask the other person why they did it and clear things out, it shouldn't be so hard.

Now if two of my friends started rumors about each other to get me to stop hanging around the other, It'd depend on the rumor.
It it's someone as ridiculous as them having sex it's none of my business, I'd just hang out normally, but if it was about something like stealing each other I'd try to sort things out somehow.

Of course, Sora'd just need an X added and Riku a DE symbol added, but they needed an excuse to redesign the characters.

TWTNW is a world in-between the Dream Realm and Light Realm, so i'd guess since Sora and Riku entered it from a dream, they'd be only able to leave to another Dream, while everyone else who entered there from the Light Realm was restricted to the Light Realm.
That's just me though.

I'm not sure if it's explicity said otherwise, but I guess they probably didn't go there to retrieve Sora and Riku, but secure their hearts or whatever instead, and as soon as the Org was gone and peventing Sora from waking up, they used whatever magic they use to get them back into their bodies.

If that place is TWTNW yeah, but that's due to it's special nature, and even then one self would have to be asleep.
I'm not sure how it'd work elsewhere, or if it would at all.
