So, I went to go see Man of Steel today. While waiting in line, I noticed an elderly lady by herself. It boggled my mind a bit to see her there. What would an older lady be doing in a line for a super hero, action film? People were obviously chatting in line, waiting to get in, and the older woman started to comment. Apparently, she had been a Superman fan for decades. She even had a golden necklace that had the logo on it, saying she had worn it for the past 30 years.

I thought nothing more of it when I went into the theater. I got my snacks and found a seat. Minutes later, I noticed that she was sitting in the same row I was. I could just tell how excited she was to see this movie. I had heard many reviews on it alright, most of them mixed, but I didn’t feel like saying anything because this was something special for her.

When I was watching the film, I couldn’t help but think of her. There were so many scenes where I felt they would resonate with her. In a way, it helped my movie going experience, which counted the guy talking next to me while having his phone on.

As I left when the credits rolled, I passed by her and asked what she thought of it. “It was amazing,” she said to me. The smile on her face was enough for me though. Just seeing that made me end up having a better day.

Before moving to LA years ago, I had been to a number of small conventions, and had only met one actress at the time, Monica Rial. I had gotten two autographs from her, some interaction time, and was probably the highlight of my con experiences at that time. The best part was that autographs were free.

Then, when I moved, the first con I went to was the start of Comikaze. There, I also got a few autographs from voice actors as well as comic book artists. Again, great time. The second year I went, however, there were a lot of people who were going that I really wanted to get autographs from. The thing was, they all charged money. Before then, I had thought that signing autographs were just free, plain and simple. I was disappointed and only got one autograph that day, simply because my sister paid for it for me.

So now, as my first time to AX starts to loom, I can't help but have that bitter taste in my mouth about the whole autograph thing. Did I only have isolated incidents and the majority of cons have you charge for an autograph with someone you admire.

I can understand the business side of it, and for people like Tara Strong or Stan Lee, I can see that they do charge, but I'm just against it. People already pay so much money to get into a con, spend money on merchandise for you to sign (or make something special that is homemade), and they charge for it. It kind of just says to me "hey, they did pay me to come here, but i'm only here so I can make a few quick bucks." For many, I know that's not the case, but it just leaves a bad impression on me.

I sometimes wonder if it's the company that makes them charge instead of the actor?

What do you guys think about it?

    Six Months

So yeah...its officially been six months since my heart transplant. It feels kind of odd really. It doesn't feel that long. And I feel very lucky.

So, yeah, thanks guys for always being there for me. And thanks for dealing with my dumb ass all this time.

It's for my film appreciation class. We pick a movie, discuss the theme, characters needs and wants, opposing poles, etc.. I decided to write it up on The Social Network.

Anyway, I got a rough draft done. I'm going to give it a quick look over. Is there anybody who would like to look at it to proofread or to give me your impressions of it?

Not all that tired, and I'm falling into one of those deep moods that basically turn me into an unfeeling robot for a while. I just need something, anything to help curve that, even if it's just for a little while.

    Slugterra: Black’s Calling

    Story:

The Shane Gang, consisting of Eli Shane, Trixie, Kord, and Pronto have taken the duty of protecting the hidden world of Slugterra from the control of the evil Doctor Thaddius Black. Using their slugs, which have the ability to use their special powers once they’ve reached 100 miles per hour, they fight to keep peace in the world and to heal the slugs that have been turned into dark creatures called Ghouls.

It has been several months since Eli Shane has entered the world of Slugterra, still finding no sign of his father, who has been missing for what is probably several years. One day, the Shane Gang hear word of a special tournament being held by Dr. Black himself, calling or all master Slug-Slingers to attend. The prize for winning the tournament you may ask: Well, fame and glory obviously, but also a few prized slugs (which has obviously been turned into Ghouls).

The catch is, the tournament turns into an all-out battle royale, where the winning team of slingers are the last ones standing. It seems that everyone in Slugterra is willing to join this competition and are looking for any way to win.

Go to the IMDB page for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (or Philosopher's Stone, wherever you may reside). Now, click on the link that shows you all the release dates for the film. Now, scroll through the dates until you reach the very last one.

Am I the only one seeing this?

Now, I'm going to preface this by saying I haven't watched a single episode of My Little Pony and I do not care for it one way or the other. However, the fanbase is something that has always caught an interest with me, and I always believed that it was a sub culture that was worth exploring. I don't look down on them, but as a particular group of people who share an interest that I do not understand.

So, having a documentary based around that sub culture seems pretty interesting to me. It seems to follow a certain group of people, exploring their lives, and how the show has influenced them. It does look like it's going to pull on the heart strings a bit, which seems more manipulative or anything, but this at least puts them into a more human light (if that makes sense). It's like if they were to do a documentary about anime or Harry Potter fans.

I dunno, check the trailer out for yourself.

So, who else watched the simulcast?

I will say that it started out slow, but by the third episode, it really picked up and was a lot of fun to watch. For me, it was really fun to watch the fight scenes, but also all of the interesting side characters that inhabited Little Garden. I do wish that they explored the world a little more and used some time to show more Gift Games, but it was really enjoyable to me. It gave me the same joy Sword Art Online gave a lot of people I know.

So, now that I have a functional computer again, I'm trying to get back into role playing. Granted, school is devouring a lot of my life lately, but I also need something that will help me relieve a lot of stress. Plus, I need another creative outlet.

Anyway, I've always been interested in trying to start up a Soul Eater RP; it seems like the perfect kind of show to have something based around. The world is so vast, and yet there is a lot of unexplored territory.

I kind of have a story in mind, where the witches try to fight back against the meisters (since the witch souls are needed to create a Deathscythe) and basically will lead into the war. Granted, I'm not married to the idea, it's just something that I have in mind.

Somewhere I would like input is is when it should take place; right after the anime's end (I'm more familiar with that story, and the manga is still ongoing), sometime in the way distant future, or some time in the very distant past, which could give a reason to why they now use witch's souls for complete their weapons. Going with right after the anime allows us to have familiar characters, but at any other place in time allows us to have even more exploration of the world and force us to have original characters.

Plus, I just want to see if anyone is interested in trying to start up a Soul Eater RP, and will try to keep it alive.
