So, you guys know how to make clear, crystal-like ice, right? You use purified water and boil it.

Now, apply that to Frozen. When Elsa is her powers consciously, the ice is crystallized. But when she's panicking (like when they were kids, and she's reacting to striking Anna), she isn't thinking, and the ice is white.

The whole theme behind the film is that "Love will melt a frozen heart," right? So, love is a representation of warmth; like warm water you need to make crystal ice.

Do with that what you will.

It's time to come clean. I can't hide this secret any long. It's embarrassing, but I must make this confession. I am the real writer of the Twilight saga. Stephenie Meyer is a name that Little Brown came up with, believing that was the most marketable name for teenage girls. At the time, I was twelve when I wrote the first novel. There have been many criticisms against it because of the writer, of how could an adult with an English degree write something so badly. Now, looking at it in the context of a thirteen year old who had barely started writing, I hope people will understand.

I apologize to all of those I've heart with revealing this secret, but it's time to stop running.

"Immunosuppression involves an act that reduces the activation or efficacy of the immune system."

The city of Los Angeles is a wasteland. Zack is a young man whose chosen weapon is a katana. Anna is a young woman whose chosen weapon is an axe. Two people, who lived two different lives, meet one one fated day. Together, they must fight off the real enemy: those infected during the outbreak.

This is a completely different subject than found footage films. Documentaries usually shed light on a certain subject in order to teach people about said subject. There are some movies out there that do decide to use this kind of film making, but for fictional purposes. Sometimes its for comedic effect, sometimes its for social commentary.

People usually enjoy these films as well, while others are outraged by them. Going back to found footage for a second, the consent behind those movies is that something strange or supernatural happened to those who had the camera, and the tapes/camera was found completely abandoned. Fake documentaries however play it completely serious, like it's taking place in the world we live in today.

Regular movies are usually works of fiction. Even if it's based off a true story, some facts will be embellished. Documentaries, while some may follow a narrative, show what really happened and lay out the cold, hard facts. It could be that something that people rely on documentaries to tell the truth, so when they turn out to be complete fiction, they feel betrayed.

Would that at all change if they went in knowing that it was all fake?

What do you guys think about fake documentaries?

This came to mind when I was watching A Necessary Death. The premise of the film is that the filmmaker is following a young man with brain cancer in his final days because he is planning on killing himself. You see him in his daily life, watching him say goodbye to his mother, and things happen behind the scenes. It was a really hard movie for me to watch, especially with events that happened in the third act. The ending just left me breathless.

I had gone into this movie cold. I didn't know that it was fake, and it doesn't say anything until the very end of the credits with the whole "this story is a work of fiction" disclaimer. I let out the biggest sigh at that point.

Knowing that it's fake, it didn't take away any of the emotion that I put into the film. I didn't necessarily felt lied to. I still find it an emotional experience, the characters compelling, and an ending that's very strong. I actually feel that some of that emotion may have been lost if I had known that the film was fictional from the start.

I looked up some interviews from the director (who also directed The Last Exorcism, which I find one of the best found footage films), and he even found it odd how people reacted. He said that when they buy the DVD, there's a little slip inside that says everything is a work of fiction, but when people show it to their friends, they leave out that important detail.

So, one of the classes I'm currently taking is in charge of the school's online literary magazine. As part of the Non-Fiction board, we're trying something different and doing a Sound-Off! We're looking for short (140 characters or less) rants, thoughts, comments; basically anything off the top of your head. It could be something meaningful. It can be something offensive! If my board likes it, it may get published!

Okay, I make it no secret that I'm not a fan of Doctor Who. Sure, I'll attack it harshly at times, but that's usually in jest and not to be taken too seriously. I only saw the one that started the reboot, and about three episodes of it. I didn't find the actors bad, but the writing just seemed dumb. It didn't feel clever for me; it was being random for random's sake, which is not creativity from my point of view.

Lately, I've been surrounded by it. Sure, I can avoid it on the internet to an extent. But one of my classes is filled with English majors, and they love the hell out of it. We could be talking about something, then the subject just randomly changes to that, and I don't want to say anything and be "that guy". I remember in a Creative Writing class that we were asked to say something we dislike, to which I was greeted with a chorus of "what?", "are you ridiculous?", and "how can you not like it?". I wasn't even allowed to say anything on the matter.

So, should I give it another chance? I originally went in with an open mind, even wanting to like it, but this time, I have a different background with it.

Had a play today, and the cast decided to have an after party at the directors house. After a couple of games of "Get the F-ck Out", we decided to walk over the a very close bar. Had about one beer (they told me it was weak stuff) total from sipping my own and participating in the game. I kicked ass, and even won a game.

At the bar, I signed up for karaoke, but the guy was poking ass with getting people up on stage. Decided to get a cranberry juice with a small bit of vodka and then nurse it off with some Sprite. Got to dance with a really hot girl who was with our crowd though, so I guess that counts for something, right?

All in all, got to have a nice dance, is a bit buzzed, and having a headache.

So, this year I'm taking Online Publishing, which is basically a class where we put together a literary magazine that the school puts together every year on the internet. We needed to make flyers to help promote it. Our teacher said to think of anythign creative, even memes. While I was thinking of doing something for disaster girl (which my teacher absolutely loved), I decided to do this one instead...

    My teacher snorted.

Apparently, it's much funnier than I had intended...

    Full Article

I read through a number of articles before saying something. This article conveniently leaves out the fact that White students and Mexican students don't necessarily get along at this school. There have been problems, especially on Cinco de Mayo.

To me, the white students don't wear the shirt because they're patriotic, but because they are flat out racist. Cinco de Mayo marks a battle between Mexico and France, which has nothing to do with America in the first place. To me, it's the equivalent of wearing a swastika during Passover.

All that being said, this shouldn't have even been brought into the court. It's a ridiculous ruling on a ridiculous problem. People do have the right to wear what they want to wear, and I respect that. What I don't respect is you do this, implying that you are a higher human being than another because of your race/skin color/etc. I have no problem with the flag. I have a problem with people using it as something to mask their racism.

And for fun, I wonder how many people upset about this are also upset that they are no longer allowed to discriminate against gays...

I know that it has been tried in the past, in a few different forums, and just didn't keep, but I would like to recommend maybe trying it once more. Film is something that just about everybody can get into for one reason or another. Maybe it's just something that's completely entertaining to you and nothing else. Maybe you love to analyze film and look for the deeper meaning. Or you're somewhere in the middle. My recommendation for a KHV Movie Club would be a good place to have discussion about a particular film for a certain period of time.

The practice would be similar to the old book club, but with film. It would first start out with a recommendation/voting process. Those who want to participate recommend a film. I would say for this, make it a movie that is available on Netflix. It's something that just about everybody uses, and there are always other means to see said movie (personal collection, borrowing, libraries, etc). With that, they would also post the MPAA rating, genre, a trailer, and maybe a short note if the submitter so wishes to.

    Ex.
    Bernie (PG-13) (Comedy/Crime)
    Official Trailer
Stars Jack Black and Mathew McConaughey

When it comes to Rated-R movies, I know it's a touchy subject. While this is a site centered around a video game aimed at children, most of the members here are mature enough to see such content. When it comes to these films, it'll be on an individual process. For example: if The Conjuring were ever up on Netflix, I wouldn't object to putting it on the list despite it being rated R since it contains no sex, isn't that violent, and no swearing (I still stay up at night wondering why it's rated R in the first place); however, we wouldn't watch things like The Human Centipede 2 (although that would be an interesting discussion).

After enough movies are submitted, we'll have a poll to decide which movie will be chosen (the poll will be up for about three days). Then, after we have picked a winner, a thread will be created for that movie for discussion and such, and will last for about two weeks (depending on film popularity, discussion, etc.). Posts in these threads could range from how a person felt about the film, debating over the ending, if it's a musical, maybe doing a cover of the song; basically anything that contributes. Then, the process repeats itself.

I woulldn't mind volunteering doing the work for this. I feel it would be nice to have something like this as an option. One thing I find as a huge advantage is that it'll get people to watch and discover something they might not have heard of or skipped otherwise.

So yeah, the Worship Roadshow came by my town and the headliner was Skillet (along with Third Day). It had definitely been a while since I had listened to their music, so I wasn't too excited to see it until yesterday when I picked up the tickets. Had to get through some bands in order to listen to them (some better than others), but it was all SOOO worth it! They really know how to put on a show! I was crying during The Last Night. Monster was definitely the highlight of the entire show. Just listening to them was worth the ticket money alone!

So, I was watching The Golden Globes. After it was finished, I tried to change the channel, but the remote wouldn't respond. It did volume stuff, but nothing else. I tried turning the power on and off, but it only led to a black screen. I then unplugged the system and plugged it back in, but then the screen went blue, like it wasn't recovering any signal at all. Any advise.

We're using an Xfinity cable box, which is a branch off of Comcast, if that helps any.

    [it's shit]

It wasn't as fan-service-y that I thought it would be. As far as recap movies go, I feel it did a good job. I actually like this a whole lot better than I did the original series overall since it had something that the series was missing: focus.

And a good platform for newbies to come in and watch the second series.

Seriously though, it's one if the best made documentaries I've seen. It's something that I feel everyone should watch. Trust me, it's ****ing brutal at times, and it's something you can only watch once.
