Hey guys. It's 4:42am right now, I am a tad delirious, so I'm going to keep this brief, but I'd love to get you guys involved in the Karaoke Night stuff, whether you're singing or not! As some of you listening last night could hear, I did a really plain introduction for the beginning of the night. It was something like, "Hey guys, Jayn here! You're listening to KHV Chorus' Karaoke Night! Hope you enjoy! YEAH!" ​

I would like something simple like that. I wasn't very creative with the outro ("Well...that's it. hope you had fun"), so try to be better than me, yeah? c: ​

All I'd like for anyone interested to do is record up to TWO introductions and TWO outros (if they want), and send it to chorus@kh-vids.net. You don't have to worry about any effects or music. Simply introduce yourself and KN, and that's that! Try to be enthusiastic about it and get creative, if you'd like! Just try and keep it short. If you're planning something really fancy, let me know first, please. ​

Note: I won't be answering anything questions already answered in this thread or any of the other KHV ones with rules anymore. I write these things up for a reason. Either put in the effort to read or I won't put in the effort to answer, sorry.

● Read the suggestions list before you suggest something.

● THINK before you suggest. Don't just suggest a song because you like it. Suggest songs that can actually be done by the chorus.

● Check for a HIGH QUALITY instrumental yourself and post it it here along with your suggestion. Try to find an official instrumental, or ask for permission from the creator of the fan-instrumental.

● You may re-suggest songs that were previously done in Duet Roulette or Karaoke Night, only. Please do not re-suggest songs that were done as a full chorus already.

● Keep it KHV appropriate.

● Please state what language you want the song to be sung in, if it's not in English.

● If the song is a parody or original you or someone else on KHV wrote, please make sure it's actually singable and decent. Really badly written songs will be ignored, sorry.

Hey guys! A lot has been going on recently with all of the KH Anniversary events, along the one year anniversary of KHV Chorus. To add to the excitement, we've got a brand new KHV project to bring to the table!

If you have any questions after you read the thread, PLEASE ASK HERE! That way anyone with the same question will be able to see. If you're confused about something, please ask.

★ What Is This? ⬊

The KHV Musical is a site-wide collaboration that will be worked on over the course of the next year. The project will bring together various creative sections of KH-Vids and will ultimately result in an actual musical that will be released to the public September 2013. The musical will feature original artwork, original music and lyrics and an original screenplay. It will be showcasing the various voice talents of our very own KH-Vids members, and there will be auditions held for parts starting in May!

The musical will be compiled in the Visual Novel software Ren'Py, and there will also be a watchable Youtube version, and perhaps a Livestream of the play-through at some point. The estimated run time is 45 minutes to an hour, or so, but there is no fixed time.

(Phase 1)


Characters
Who are the characters that will be in the musical? Are they original characters? KHV members? What are their stories? Basically, all of this needs to be figured out.

Setting
Where is the story taking place? Post-Apocalyptic Japan? ...Maybe just a high school?

Story/Plot
What IS the story? What's going on? What's the plot? Beginning to end.

(Phase 2)

Screenplay
This is an entire two months dedicated to actually writing the script. A how to write a script tutorial will be included. By this time, the plot and characters should be developed, all that should be left is dialogue. We'll have proof readers, etc. It should still be a collaboration, so I'm thinking that who's writing what will be split, maybe beginning middle, end, scenes.

Logo
Sometime like the banners used for KHVC. Simple, lol.

(Phase 3)

Concept Art
Rough sketches of the characters appearances and general attire. Any weapons and fixed settings should be sketched here too, if they exist. Depending on the plot.

Character Art/Settings
Actual art, lol. The finished, colored artwork. We need the characters in different positions/basic facial expressions. Sprites, almost except not really. LOL. All of the characters should be drawn as such, including the minor ones. By now the script is written, so we know who we need to draw and how they need to be drawn. We want the artwork to be relatively the same style so that's something to keep in mind. Should be high quality. Meaning if it's scanned or something, it should be HQ and not fuzzy or awkward lighting.

(Phase 4)

Music & Lyrics
Music composition and lyrics written. Lyrics should be written after the music is composed. In terms of the background music, we can use existing royalty-free music and those will need to be compiled and gathered.

(Phase 5)

Casting
Casting = the voice actors/singers of KHV pop in for this one and audition. At this point, everything should be done, meaning that we have a clear idea off who is actively involved in the project. Those most consistent and involved in terms of production and behind the scenes will be the ones to judge auditions. Ultimately, it's okay to voice act and not be able to sing. It's possible to duel cast. Ex. Someone can't sing, but someone is cast for their singing part and sing for them. Of course, the voices should be similar/realistic, YADDA.

(Phase 6)

Audio Production//Singing
This part is easy. The singers just sing. It's mixed and mastered, etc. Actors do their lines, too. Sound effects should be gathered.

(Phase 7)

Production
This is where it all comes together. Plums and I and whoever else who ends up with enough time and dedication at this point compile it all and bam. Released in September 2013.

Just keep your eye on the timeline and myself and Plums will keep you all updated with our progress and what's going on.

What if we don't all agree on what the plot should be? Or what the logo should be?

For those kinds of decisions, we'll have a poll to decide (the case that there are multiple options).

If I help with one thing do I have to help with the rest?

Nope! For instance, if you help with writing the Screenplay, you don't have to be involved in anything else but writing. Everyone who helps will be credited.

Do I have to download Ren'Py?

Not at all. You don't even have to use Ren'Py. Towards the end, Plums, What? and myself will be finishing most of the production stuff. You don't have to worry about this at all.

Will I have to have a good microphone to act/sing?

You don't have to have an $1000 microphone, but as of now you have about a year to work on getting a better microphone than, for instance, a bad laptop one. I have lots of microphone recommendations, message me if you want one.

This sounds really intense, will it really get done?

We are prepared for the inevitable drop outs and inconsistencies. In the event that things get disorganized or some members disappear, Plums and myself are %100 ready and willing to jump in and save the day. It will get done, even if we end up doing it all ourselves. That being said... You guys should try not to drop out and disappear and such.

How will _____ work?

Each phase will have it's own thread with extra specifics and details. Please wait until we're actually there. For example, please don't ask about how something in June will work, if it's September.

What staff members are helping/apart of this?

Plums, What?, Peace-and-War, Sabby, Stardust, Krowley and myself are likely to pop in to post the individual threads and help with other behind-the-scenes and production things.

A year sounds so long! How can we speed this up?

Help! The more help and activity, the faster we'll go. For instance, if we finish planning before the end of October, we'll move onto the next phase. If we finish the Screenplay before January, we'll move and all dates will be pushed up.

Happy Birthday KHVC!

Wow. Today (the 26th) marks the one-year anniversary for KHV Chorus. I've already been mushy and emotional enough, so to sum things up, I'm really excited for year two!

Thank you for everyone's help over the past year. The support and the opportunities mean a lot. Now that we're through our first year, things should run a little smoother in the future, yeah? That being said, we're in need of a small revamp! There will be a new Voting and Suggestions thread once we get through it all, and all previous KHVC Helpers will have to renew their applications, considering most of you are gone now and I haven't really asked for any help recently.

We're in need of some people to do voice introductions for Karaoke Night, and I'm planning on launching a couple of silly contests for a KHVC Slogan (Come Sing with Us is really lame), and a KHVC video intro for all you video editors out there.

Please expect a few new and hopefully helpful changes. Everything that is updated will be bumped and you will all be made aware. Keep an eye out for the new stuff!

If a song is missing, it's most likely intentional. Some of the songs were just impossible to re-mix or edit, mostly due to lost lines and some people's inability to replace them (and my impatience). The main focus wasn't for the songs to sound crystal clear perfect, but for people to be able to listen to them without cringing and ear-bleedage from the peaking.

F A Q​

★ First of all, yes. Anyone can join. You can even invite friends to sign up for KHV and join the chorus. As long as you have a microphone, you are welcomed to sing with us.

★ KHV Chorus is a community project, but not one SET group of people. If you sign up for one song, you are not in any way obligated to participate in any more. That being said, if you never signed up for a song before, there is no special process you have to go through. All you have to do is pick the lines of said song you want, sing them, send them and then you're done!

★ You also don't have to know how to sing. NO ONE is judging you. No one. If someone says something rude, I'll beat them up for you. But I truly don't see that happening. We're a loving bunch. Don't be intimidated! <3

★ Don't worry about your microphone quality, either. It's all for fun, after all! You don't have to feel pressured into buying a microphone for the project or anything. Whatever you have is cool.

Hey kids. This next event is a bit more formal than our fictional writing contest!

We would like you to write about how the Kingdom Hearts series affected you and why you still enjoy it today, despite ten years passing between the original release and now. For example, you could write about how it has affected your views on friendship; would you go through the same trials Sora did for his friends? Or perhaps how the characters themselves have affected you, or why one character is your favorite. It doesn’t have to be an essay, but at least try to make it a few paragraphs. Submissions like “I like Axel because he’s hot” will not be accepted.

Rules:

• MUST be related to in-universe - that means no original characters or anything like that.
• Must be appropriate as per KHV's rules.
• DO NOT take someone else's writing and claim it as your own. We will check, should we find this happens you will be disqualified.

I'm going in March and I have to plan out the trip by the end of September. I have no idea where to start, though. We would probably go to Tokyo but that's not exactly set in stone. I like. Have literally no idea what to do. ​

What is KHV Chorus? How do I get involved?​

Hey guys! ​

​

We have a busy few weeks coming up (or at least I do--*shot*). With the completion of Connect, my next focus will be FINALLY releasing the album and working on a very special KHV Chorus production! ​

​

September 26th, 2012 marks are ONE YEAR KHVC Anniversary! To honor the event, we will be singing a reprise of Still Alive, the very first KHV Chorus song, ever. Since then, we have sang a total of twenty-seven songs. By the 26th, we'll have released around FORTY with the debut of Karaoke Night. ​

I can't even believe it. I want to personally thank anyone and everyone who has supported the chorus in any way. I never, ever thought that it would reach this level. When I posted Still Alive nearly a year ago, I figured it would attract maybe five or so people, which of course wouldn't have really been enough to build off of and it would just die out forever into an abyss of threads. How wrong I was. ​

I know it takes a lot of courage to sing, and actually release it to the public, especially when you're uncomfortable doing so. I applaud and admire EVERYONE who has stepped out of their comfort zone by participating in the chorus. ​

F A Q​

★ First of all, yes. Anyone can join. You can even invite friends to sign up for KHV and join the chorus. As long as you have a microphone, you are welcomed to sing with us.​

​

★ KHV Chorus is a community project, but not one SET group of people. If you sign up for one song, you are not in any way obligated to participate in any more. That being said, if you never signed up for a song before, there is no special process you have to go through. All you have to do is pick the lines of said song you want, sing them, send them and then you're done!​

​

★ You also don't have to know how to sing. NO ONE is judging you. No one. If someone says something rude, I'll beat them up for you. But I truly don't see that happening. We're a loving bunch. Don't be intimidated! <3​

​

★ Don't worry about your microphone quality, either. It's all for fun, after all! You don't have to feel pressured into buying a microphone for the project or anything. Whatever you have is cool.​

Well first of all, Sassy Quote-chan, you need to calm down with you attitude. Secondly, surprise! September 26th, 2012 marks our ONE YEAR anniversary, which is absolutely positively crazy (the 29th of this month marks my five year KHV anniversary, too). The first KHV Chorus song ever was Still Alive, so to honor the fact that KHV Chorus is still very much alive, we will be singing the song again. The time, we'll be singing another version, though. Think of it as a reprise.

★ If anyone wants to change their render, please do it by September 12th. I will not change it after that point.

★ I will do harmonies throughout the song and make a reference for those who want to do them with me. (No really, I will this time! Thanks to Christhor. ; u ; )

★ You may have 5 parts all together with one solo. 4 to a line. This may change. I know that means less slots (which is sad because this is special), but the more people there are, the more completely overwhelmed and hair-tear-y I get, and the less blended we actually sound/are.

★ Make sure you TIME and SING to the PITCH of the INSTRUMENTAL or MY REFERENCE. Please do not sing the GLaDOS version or I will hunt you down and force you to eat chocolate covered brussel sprouts.

★ If I don't have a rendered picture from you (no background) GET ME ONE.

★ MP3s only, no ZIP files, ONE file timed to the instrumental/reference song! A few of you sent me one file, but it wasn't timed to the music, you did your lines back to back. That is a no-no! When you send your lines, they should be spaced out in time to the music, not just one file with your lines after one another.

★ Please email all lines to; chorus@kh-vids.net or post a download link in the thread.

★ Your lines are due BEFORE the listed date. If you have to drop out, drop out TWO DAYS prior at the latest. Please help me out by giving me enough time to work with your dropping out, if you must do so.

KHV Chorus Rules&General Information | Completed Choruses | KHV Chorus Voting and Suggestions | KHV Chorus Applications​

Next Karaoke Night: July 12th @ 6PM EST​

WHAT IS THIS?

Karaoke Night is an event that's a bit of a KHV Chorus and Duet Roulette Spin-Off. Mostly everything works the same. A song will be sung, I'll mix it and make a video for it. It will be uploaded to Youtube and posted in the KHVC section, etc. The only difference is that Karaoke Night will be utilizing our nifty Radio, and will be mostly centered around solo performances.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Basically, there will be a specific amount of slots open for people to sign up. When you sign up, you can pick any song to sing, from the list of available songs below. First come first serve. The song options will be randomly pulled from out Voting and Suggestions list just like Duet Roulette. In some cases, we may have special themed Karaoke Nights (like serenade night, rockin' rock night, GANGSTA RAP NIGHT, etc.)

I will spend the time before Karaoke Night mixing all tracks/lines. On Karaoke Night, your songs will be played over the KHV radio. They will debut on the radio before YT. This way, it's in real time and everyone can hang out and enjoy the fun. Keep in mind that's what this is for. Fun. So it's okay if you have fun with your song or don't consider yourself the best singer in the world.

Unlike Duet Roulette, you don't have to sign up permanently if you want to participate.

In summary, you'll just post here saying which song you would like. I'll sign you up. You sing the song, send me your MP3 file (just you, no music, timed, just like KHVC) I'll mix it and master it and it'll air on the date above.

● If you sign up and then realize you'll be too busy, please tell me wayyyy ahead of time. Like. Not the day before, not even two days before Karaoke Night. The moment/second you find out or even think you will possibly not make it in time. Talk to me! For the most part I'm pretty understanding and will help you the best I can.

● Only one person per song, for now. In some cases we may have a sappy duets night or something, but while Duet Roulette is more for that kind of thing, this is more your time to shine. That being said, only one person per song in the slot. Once that song is claimed, that's that.

● There will be no splitting of the lines, obviously, because you're singing the whole thing. If the song is really long or something, we can edit it down to the first verse and chorus.

● When you sign up, I'll message you the lyrics and instrumental. Please make sure you get started on recording as soon as possible, because I'll be mixing 15 different songs within a limited amount of time. If you would like to help, just get your lines in ASAP. xD

● Send to chorus@kh-vids.net when you're done. Please send in your part no later than two days before Karaoke Night. This is the 24th.

● Drop out after one week, or DON'T DROP OUT AT ALL. All of the members who's lines are NOT in after one week will be notified and reminded. Drop out with the notification or pull through. Also, please respond. I'll take no-response after two days as a drop out.

● Feel free to mix your own vocals, but only if you know what you're doing!! You can leave the instrumental behind you so long as you know how to time your vocals. That's it.

● If you mess up/flub in your lines, I'm not fixing it. In the past I would stay up slaving away on the timing and qualtiy, but here's how it goes from now on: Sing to the instrumental I provide you with (or the original if it's the same), If I don't give you an instrumental BOTHER ME.

Time your lines, as instructed in the tutorial video, NO WAV FILES (I will NOT accept them anymore, this has been said 1000 times), and things should be okay. I should be able to open the instrumental, line up your file and be done. If it doesn't line up, I'm not going to fix it (I mean if it's extreme, I'll fix the little things). If it's off-time or sounds really messed up or clashy, it's your fault.

If your lines are unbearable to work with or just really sloppily/lazily done, I reserve the right to flat out ignore them. Put some effort behind it, please. I see no reason why I should if you aren't considerate, that's all I'm asking for.

ACHIEVEMENTS!


There will be a list of hidden achievements (only I know the full list) that will be awarded throughout the event to participating members. After five achievements are awarded to someone, they will be able to sing any appropriate song they want that has an existing instrumental, whether or not it's on the Voting and Suggestions (or the slot) list. Every five achievements, another freebie, and later more perks.

What achievements exist will eventually be revealed as people are awarded them. The full list will never be posted just because, but if they're ever all revealed I'll let you guys know.

NOTE: Achievement Points work like CURRENCY. Meaning, if you have 5 achievements and you claim the first award, then you're back to ZERO and you may not have the same achievements over and over. Once you reach 5, you can pick to use it or save it for 10. Another example is once you reach 20, let's say, you can either sing four songs, two duets, or pick the full chorus option, ETC. ASK ME PERSONALLY IF YOU'RE CONFUSED.

5 Achievements - You can sing any song you want on or off of the Suggestions list. It does not matter if all of the slots are taken. Free pass.

10 Achievements - You can sing a duet with anyone you want. Same concept as the above. Any song, doesn't matter how many slots are taken.

20 Achievements - You may sing whatever 3 songs you want off or on the suggestions list. One of those three can be a duet.

30 Achievements - You can pick any song you want for a /FULL CHORUS/, off or on the suggestions list. It may not be on the radio until the next KN, depending on Jayn's schedule.

40 Achievements - You may sing any song you want, with however many people you want. In other words, you can make your own mini-chorus. It will air on the radio for Karaoke Night, as well as be on YT as a full chorus-styled video.

50 Achievements - You may do ALL of the above, during any Karaoke Night you want (once you do one, you can't do it anymore, onward), and Jayn will write you a completely original song to thank you for your participation and hard work. If you are Jayn, then tough luck honey, sing a song about yourself. This song will be on the radio during KN when it is done.
