It's been a sec since it was announced, but a new game in the series, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, launches for all major platforms on October 8! This one's a 2D platformer with an explorable top-down overworld between 2D levels. The villain, Capital B, sets himself up in the titular Impossible Lair after wresting control of the Stingdom's Beetallion, and players can challenge the Lair from the get-go—but it's called the Impossible Lair for a reason. However, playing through the overworld and the 2D levels will see players rescue members of the Beetallion, who will serve as shields for Yooka and Laylee in the Lair.
Pokémon Sword and Shield are the subject of this month's Game Informer feature, and we've learned several tidbits about the game from them: The games will feature eighteen gyms divided between a Minor League and a Major League. Gyms in one League in one version may be in another League in the other; for example, Bea's Fighting-type Gym is in Sword's Major League and Shield's Minor League, and Allister's Ghost-type Gym is in Shield's Major League and Sword's Minor League. This helps to give the in-universe impression that Gyms can change Leagues from year to year. EDIT: Game Informer has issued a correction—the games will feature a similar number of Gyms to previous entries to battle against. In the lore, however, eighteen Gyms do exist in the Galar League. The games will have an autosave function, which can be turned off at the player's discretion. HMs will not be returning. The Exp. Share item will not be returning; its effect is automatic instead. Max Raid Battles will have a wide spread of difficulties. The developers are hinting at new mechanics to allow you to more effectively use your favorite Pokémon in competitive battling. It's been a hot second, but Frozen II comes out in two months—on November 22. It sees Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven leaving Arendelle to solve the mystery of Arendelle's magical past. Joining the cast are Evan Rachel Wood (Westworld, Across the Universe) as Queen Iduna, Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2, Frida) as King Agnarr, Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us, Black Panther) as Lt. Destin Mattias, Martha Plimpton (Raising Hope, The Good Wife) as Yelana, Rachel Matthews (Happy Death Day, Looking for Alaska) as Honeymaren, and Jason Ritter (Gravity Falls, Parenthood) as Ryder. Today, the official Pokémon site added a glitched page for a new Fighting-type Pokémon. Any guesses what it is?
