Yeah, it feels better than on a PC emu to me, although I guess it's still emulating lol. Assuming you mean the 3DS eShop, you can get X if you're willing to settle for the GBC games. I've heard mixed things about the first one & never really got around to it, but I can vouch for the second one (I have a few beefs but in some cases iirc I enjoyed it more than the SNES counterparts it drew from :v). I also really like the way games look at native res on the 3DS screen; I'm not 100% on if all types of 3DS do this but the screen's pixel structure is such that with 3D turned off my original model has natural 'scanlines'. Imho 8-bit games are gorgeous if you don't blow them up & even GBC games look like they were prettymuch meant to have them (apologies for my screen, some dust on it lol). I just like scanlines in general, but something about the 3DS's, even if they're not "real" in the same way as a CRT's are, seems less 'off' to me than a filter. I dunno, I can't describe it very well haha.
http://www.rockman-corner.com/2015/12/everything-we-know-about-what-happened.html bump sorry but this is a weirdly relevant article that just got posted last week so i'm leaving it for anyone interested also the suffering that is playing a mega man game for the first time is arguably one of my favorite/most memorable things about it lol. I'll never forget the frustration of dying over and over and feeling like I was never going to get anywhere but not being able to put it down because DAMMIT I WOULD NOT BE BESTED. Subjecting my friends to the same thing gives me such joy in life
I think it's probably just spoiler management but it makes me really nervous that reviews are embargoed so close to release tbh lol. Studios will sometimes do that when they lack confidence in the quality of their film.
i love mega man mess lore discussions can this happen more often But naw like my understanding is that yeah he was a total ****ing psychopath, and I don't think Inafune was denying/retconning that necessarily as iirc he had a lot of control over the plot of X4. But that in itself doesn't necessarily prove Zero murdered the Classic cast either is the issue! We know he was built for the express purpose of killing Mega Man, and he was at some point sealed off in that abandoned lab before reawakening and slaughtering basically everything he came across/releasing the Virus and transferring it to Sigma. But what happened before then is a mystery, and another common theory is that he was totally uncontrollable even by Wily so Wily sealed him away (there may even be some canon info to back this theory up but unfortunately I do not have my Complete Works book on hand to check lol). The theory actually explains a number of things about 21XX, though. For example, Zero is canon-chronologically revealed in one of the Mega Man arcade games when Wily mentions him to Bass, and his silhouette is clearly shown to have the squared shoulder plates/Z-Saber. But when Zero wakes up in that capsule, he's got rounded shoulders and no saber -- perhaps because Wily sealed him off and died before he could be 100% completed, yeah? There's also the issue of X5, because if Zero goes Maverick, he becomes incredibly calm and focused on killing X -- he doesn't revert to the way he was in X4 outright. This being the case, it could be argued that Zero's initial Maverick behavior was the result of some kind of problem, and that Awakened/Maverick!Zero's X5 behavior is the way he was really intended to be. None of this solves the mystery of what happened to all the 20XX robots, though, which is a big problem that the Cataclysm theory addresses :V At the end of the day I'm not even sure anybody at Capcom thought as hard about the Mega Man timeline as fans have, so there are probably contradictions that are just there because Capcom messed up honestly lol. I definitely feel that these are questions that will never be answered as it would require giving a definitive end/death to much of the Classic cast, which is.... Well, tonally a no-no, and would mean ending that series to boot.
Weirdly enough, Keiji Inafune personally shot down the Cataclysm theory several years ago. Now nobody has any idea what happened. it made so much sense too
ok this isn't very relevant but every time someone mentions that merchant i just have to
I almost exclusively use couple to refer to two of something; I have a vague memory of using it differently when I was younger and being told that it was incorrect lol, so I've used it that way since then. Bit different for everyone though obviously. I think usually if I'm talking about more than that I use "a few". :V
I like Legends but the controls are so frustrating
Nintendo doesn't release any gba games on the 3DS eShop IIRC, I think they claim it doesn't emulate properly or something.
AS IF U COULD HAVE ONE WITHOUT THE OTHER Spoiler Buuuuut everyone has their own favorites lol, it just boils down to personal taste?? I'm really lukewarm about the Zero series because while imho it's better than X in some ways (consistently good games, a defined beginning and ending), there's a lot of different stuff happening design-wise that I'm not too fond of. They even had to dial it back some in later entries because the extra baggage from the Cyber-Elf system etc. made things really tedious and difficult, as I recall. At the end of the day there are some relatively minor mechanical distinctions that make me prefer X. I also have come to like the X series' overall presentation more tbh. But I will say that Cyber-Elf X is my favorite character in the whole franchise
You're a nice one Mr. Grinch~ (thank you Amaury!)

I had such a weird perception of what adulthood was when I was younger, like... I always remember feeling like adults could never enjoy the same things as kids and were All Business and had everything figured out. Even feeling kinda detached, that people's brains must work differently when they get older so I couldn't understand what was going on in their heads. Now that I am on the Other Side™ so to speak (inasmuch as college can be considered adulthood), and still have an attachment to some of the same things I liked when I was 12 and have nothing figured out at all and spend most of my time feeling overwhelmed by/avoiding (or at least wishing I could avoid) my responsibilities, that perspective seems so laughable. Life is weird, you can't really plan it, you've just gotta try & take it as it comes. I think it's natural to wonder about how things are going, all that said? And I don't really believe those questions ever completely disappear for most people... But you're living your life at the same time, every day. I guess... Personally I just try to keep in mind that there are worthwhile experiences in that process, no matter what. I dunno. [steps off soapbox]
I gave it a shot. Should be okay now?
Illuminati confirmed
Ahh thank youuu C': My handwriting changes a lot! I just ended up with full-on cursive this semester after a couple years of it progressively getting closer and closer. :v Now that it's gotten to that point I'm finding printing difficult. & I dunno Lux, I'm always jealous of other people's handwriting lol. Maybe it's that way for everyone. this post reminded me how out of touch I am with popular/current anime at the moment lol, I have not been keeping up with these things! Much obliged~
