I don't know much about the anime since I only watched the recent one but manga probably isn't rated as high since it feels a lot slower than the anime, but it has really started picking up in the last 20 or 30 chapters. So unless you really want to read it all, start at the beginning of the manga and read the intro chapters for the character then start the anime. After that just pick up on the manga where the anime ends. That's just my personal advice though.
FF X-2 because it was the only game of my sister's that she would let me play when I was little.
I really like it because the character's abilities are the kind you don't usually see in other stories and some can be really weird, but they also have unique weaknesses and rules to each ability. Another thing is how the parts of Jojo are so different. You get slice of life, mystery, adventure, historical, tragedy, horror, and crime, all in one. Ans the good part is that all of they main characters have completely different personalities from each other so you always get something new.
They had to change it due to copyright laws.

If the problem is it being dated you could start reading Steel Ball RUN then Jojolion since they're separate from the first 6 part. They're the newest ones.
