'twas also released on PC, which is a relatively quick download. some guys possibly or possibly not inluding me also choose to mod the PC version, and actually you can get some pretty good graphics in that old game now.

My advice: Pirate FF7 somehow and play that first. (not trying to force illegalness here, but its really the only way to obtain it nowadays.)

uhh well, it's a little more omplicated than that. you need to mod the ascii that calls the model and mset of the heartless with that of the enemy...
i guess you COULD play it without prior knowledge of the series, but the sense of epic nostalgia amplified by new smexy graphics and getting a more complete knowledge of something you wish you knew more about for 10 years or so would be completely non-existant. and that's basically what CC was for. apart from that, the CC battle system was rubbish, as was the materia system, and uh.... that pretty much the entire game in a nutshell
