After 15 minutes the server does log you off. But then cookies on your computer sign you back in again if you have that enabled.

The server is isolated from your computer and has no idea what is going on at your end. You could restart and as long as you're back on within 15 minutes its as good as you not leaving at all. Conversely, spend too much time typing up that big response to a thread and it will bump you off despite the fact that you didn't leave.

Well the two aren't related. I just use invisible mode on days when I'm busy and likely to come and go. Essentially means "Don't expect me to be productive today"

I did have work tonight but we're closed since most of the area is still evacuated, nobody is really going to go see a movie, haha.

Well there's no set amount of time. Just use your best judgement, really -- don't talk about it so much that people feel like it's advertising; discuss your other interests with people, etc.
