Well, the rule stickies should detail what responses are or are not good enough. Just make sure they're specific and contribute to the topic at hand.
Like I said when messaging you earlier, just ask yourself if the exact same post could be posted in another, unrelated thread elsewhere -- if the answer is yes it's not on-topic or too vague.
Also, try not to just repeat what other people have already said. You can say similar things as others of course, especially if you agree with them on an opinion or something, but make sure it's in your own words and/or you add some of your own thoughts =].

Just find topics you are interested in and post in them. As long as your posts contribute you're golden.

And it's just a matter of who was admin at the time, since basically 2006 to I think 2007 it was Sara, who was rather strict. After she left that sort of just dwindled down.

Our rules are rather detailed and we stick to them fairly well, I wouldn't say we're "strict," but we made the rules for a reason. And trust me, things used to be a lot stricter, haha.

Well, I still do moderator work. If I come across something that should be locked or deleted or whatever, of course I do it, but I don't go actively searching out for it. I have other duties on top of it. I still do from time to time, but yes, the bulk of it is left to moderators, since that is their primary job.
