Sounds about the just of it, I can be like that at times, but I've been try to be more loose recently. You can enjoy the little things more when you're not taking everything seriously. It's good to have both sides.

For gyms..the first four should have between 3-5, the last four should have 4-6. I might increase the number later, though. Not sure yet.

If that's your three, you need to have all three of them early on. Just because they don't share a theme doesn't mean you can't have all three of them; you just can't use all three of them in the battle. So yeah, those three are fine. In fact, you could PM me the list of Gym Pokemon you want and keep that list a secret until you get into a Gym battle.

That would work, but the problem is the way I have the map set up there's no real FIRST gym leader. So it'll be awhile before we even see that character. Now if you want to start off with the character, reveal he's a gym leader when they get to his gym and have him do the first battle AND THEN leave, that works.
