Think I found it, if its the one I think.
When you open the animation pallette, you get the lines, right?
If you're using the lined one, you just go all the way to the end and drag it as far back as you'd like it to be, you choose when you want which layer to appear basically.

Though if you want to do it easier, you could just click the smaller button in the bottom right (maybe top right for you) and there you can see frame by frame, where you have something,something sec just change it to something longer.

For me it's really just a matter of coding. If you use Firefox I would highly recommend the Firebug plugin. When you have it, you can click on anything on the page and it will tell you what CSS element styles it. Then just copy the CSS into additional.css and modify it to your liking.

That's just how I do it, though. There are a lot of other methods, you've just got to find what works for you. If you're not confident in doing it yet you could always just download a style from vBulletin.org that has a color scheme/layout that you like, and then just modify it to match your site's theme.
