Just remember that it was Frieza's Death Ball that caused the explosion. Since Broly was awakening his hidden power it would have been easy for him to survive (since future trunks was able to catch the death ball easily)

But Like I said said the movies logic is flawed sometimes. Cell's explosion should be way more powerful then Frieza's death ball explosion

Jaden, elemental heroes are awful, so the fact that you make them work at all makes you really skilled in my opinion.
