Well in both games you start of as a 11th grade transfer student. In Persona 3, your an orphan and you return to your city in which strange occurrences happen [People randomly dying/acting like zombies]. You find out that it is all thanks to an event taking place at midnight called The Dark Hour. From there on you join a group called SEES that is trying to investigate the cause of this.

In Persona 4, you visit your 'Uncle' and 'cousin' since your 'parents' are on a trip overseas and so you have to go to school for a year in a little run down middle of no where town. After your arrival strange deaths are occurring and this one has more of a mystery murder feel to it. In both games you have the power of 'Persona' which is pretty much like a Pokemon/Summon thing that you use to combat the Shadows. [Enemies in both games] You have to balance your school life [Yes you go to school in the game and take tests lol] and fighting the Shadows. JUST PLAY IT . .because explaining it isn't enough. I personally believe you should start with Persona 4, better, darker story and it has its LOLWTF moments.
