I think it's just the extra features that expire after 30 days. The basic app should still work. If it doesn't, it can always be cracked.

Oh, and Trillian can video chat with Yahoo and with version 6.2 of MSN, but no higher.

I got the skype thing sorted. Hopefully it will work better than the MSN did.

Download that and extract it. Delete MSN from the hidden image and copy the skype folder over to where MSN used to be. You might also want to try out the application included. It gives you extra screens which you can switch to with the press of a button. I found it on this ancient memory stick I used for school ages ago, so it might not work anymore.

EDIT: Tested it out. If it works on a beta copy of windows 7, it works on vista.

Okay, forget it. I just tried myself. MSN doesn't work without installation. In fact, it may have installed itself. You now need to delete the Windows Live folder from C:\Program Files.

Just use Trillian. It works fine, right?

Oh! You can install Skype on the hidden part, so there's no need to do anything with MSN for video. I assume whoever you'd want video for would also have/be able to install skype, right?

I'll guide you through the skype installation later.

Okay, inside the Windows Live folder, there are two folders. One's called Installer, the other is called Messenger. Ignore the Installer one. Inside the messenger folder, there should be an executable file called Msnmsngr, or something similar. Run that.

I take that it's working perfectly?

When you first open up Truecrypt, you will get this screen. It may be a tad aesthetically different due to mine being a mac, but the basic frame should be the same.

The highlighted red part is the various drive slots you have. It doesn't matter which is selected. I selected slot 5. (yours may be letters. Likewise, it doesn't really matter which you choose AFAIK).

Press the highlighted button and select the file that you want to open via the pop-up explorer.

Now we have this screen. Press the highlighted red button to open a different pop-up.

We get this pop up. The red selected bit is the password box.

Ignore everything red in this pic. It's extra options that we do not need.

Type in the above (whentheycry) into the password box and click OK.

Now you will see a phantom memory stick (a disk image) called HIGURASHI. It should be located under the "mycomputer" area. In it should be a single folder, as shown above. (except mine is on a mac, so yeah...)

If we come back to the Truecrypt program, you'll notice that it has been mounted in your slot of choice.

We press dismount while it is selected in order to eject the memory stick. To access it you will have to mount it again.

That's all there is to it. For the normal one at least. To access the hidden part with MSN, you do more.

We go about mounting it normally until we get to this screen, at which point we enter a different password to the one used before. The password required to access the MSN disk image can be seen above. Press OK to mount it.

Like before, it will be under Mycomputer in the disk image (it acts like a memory stick) HIGURASHI. There are two programs. MSN Live for MSN and Trillian, which is superior to MSN and does the same job. Your choice what to use. To execute them, you find the executable in their folders. The MSN one is in the messenger folder in the MSNlive folder, while the trillian one is just in the trillian folder.

You eject in in the normal way. I just thought I'd point out that this one has the status of hidden, as opposed to normal.

That's all.

By the way, don't put any new files onto the disk images. That could potentially overwrite the messenger files, and we don't want that.
