In Dissidia Garland and Chaos are sperate enities but in Final Fantasy they were the same being.

Penelo (from FFXII) makes a small cameo in Dissidia Final Fantasy as a tutor from the in-game manuals, the Character Info, in which she also expresses her personal opinions on each character. Curiously, she doesn't seem to to like all the heroes, namely the Warrior of Light (too tough on himself and others), Firion (intimidating), Cloud Strife (not interesting), Squall Leonhart (always worrying and moping around) and Zidane Tribal (too flirtatious). Also curiously, she appears to like some Warriors of Chaos like Cloud of Darkness (calling her snake-tendrils cute and wishing she had them), Golbez (seeing him as a sweet older brother) and Jecht (commenting him to have the body of a bronzed god). She also expresses her discontent on the fact that Gabranth, and not Vaan, is representing Final Fantasy XII in the game.

In dissidia various bits of Kefka's dialogue mirror his dialogue from Final Fantasy VI. If Kefka fights the Emperor, Kefka will declare "You're less than worthless," referencing his insult to Emperor Gestahl in Final Fantasy VI. When using Extra Crispy Firaga, Kefka shouts "You'll be well done!", another line he used to taunt Gestahl. When battling Cecil, Kefka says "Goody two-shoes!" referencing a line he said to General Leo. One of Kefka's defeat quotes is "I hate, hate, hate, hate, HATE YOU!" yet another line he says in Final Fantasy VI to Celes Chere - he says an extended version of the line in Destiny Odyssey VI. Two of his defeat quotes are "Don't think you've won this!" and "Graaah! I'll remember this!" both of which are based on his dialogue when defeated in Narshe in the original game. His intro quote "You're lower than lower than dirt" may be based on his quote "You may as well be the dirt on the bottom of my boots! Or the dirt stuck to the bottom of that dirt!"

Kefka's strongest weapon in Dissidia is called "Dancing Mad," after his final musical theme.

Many aspects of the final battle with Kefka are reused in Final Fantasy VII for the battle with Safer Sephiroth. Both bosses use Havoc Wing, Heartless Angel, and take on the appearance of angels with dark wings among a backdrop of clouds. Both battles also feature a close-up of the character's face just before they unleash their ultimate attack (Forsaken and Supernova).

In Final Fantasy IV after the death of an otherwise plot-unimportant daughter, the party's sage Tellah rails against the unfortunate lute player with a stream of insults and threats including "You spoony bard!", a somewhat Bowdlerised translation that became popular and was retained when the game was re-translated for the GBA version.
