Hey man, I've started a new story in the Creativity Corner. You don't have to give CnC if you don't want to but it's kind of an experiment (you might remember it) and I know you give contructive CnC so it won't hurt to ask. If you have the time and heart to read, will you consider it?

On another note, how is your writing guide coming along? I wanted to help but I really didn't understand what you meant by "Purdue's extensive resources" and it kinda slipped my mind to ask, sorry. :p

Not much actually. Usually I hang around here while downloading music. Sometimes I watch anime or visit gamefaqs if I'm stuck in some game. Oh, and I read Garfield comics.

The problem with opinions is that a single one never seems to stand on its own. If by lack of arguments you are pushed to review one matter, hundreds of others are closely related to it and it might create a chain reaction. Multiple aspects of your way of thinking get thrown upside-down at once.

For example, suppose you're very pro-life. You believe that life is a gift that should be cherished at all times. However, something drastic happens in your own life and these pro-life views don't cut it anymore. Then you wouldn't just have to review your opinion on say abortion, but your view on euthanasia too, as well as possible others that may be linked to these.

And that's what people dislike. They dislike having to change all that so suddenly. Kind of understandable since sometimes your very lifestyle is being weighed and measured. A single experience, even a heated debate where your opponent came out on top, is seldom enough to induce a change of heart. I guess this is also the reason why some people believe that changing someone is plain impossible.

I have reasons to disagree with those people though. Discussion has made me question myself several times, and in the end even I have changed my ways.

Yeah, I thought you out of all people might understand it. A lot's happened. Heck, a lot's happening right now. My strategy is to just shut up and heal while observing; I observe much more than I ever did before. Feels like I'm undergoing life instead of living it, which doesn't bother me because I know I'll play a more active role in the near future.

There's really no trick to me. Everyone has their own opinions and I like to compare mine with others, because I like to believe that I have the best until proven wrong (and seeing no need to hide that). I don't heed the warning that I'll never change anyone's opinion anyway because I know that I myself have been influenced by others, perhaps more than I care to admit. 99% of the people who disagree with me won't give a flying **** about my views even after the debate, but the percent that does makes it all worthwhile.

I can be a nice guy, but when my views and my very lifestyle is on the line, all bets are off. Offense is the best defense, and wisdom generally comes out on top. It's their and our choice to act upon or even see that newfound wisdom, but at least I saught and maybe presented it.
