No he's not vindictive and cruel like most of the others, but he has a strong fear of not to try to disappoint Xemnas again or else he could get hurt or maimed by the aerial blades that Xemnas showed forth. He will do what it takes to survive.

True, but remember his life was on the line if he messed up and now he feels successful and appreciated like he belongs in the organization.

Nobodies don't have hearts so it is capable for him to do such a thing. They are devoid of feelings and can act the way they want.
