Actually Gex was thrown into the portal back to the castle by Larxene and it closed after he was tossed in. Xemnas is still where Xaldin, Demyx and Larxene are in Hollow Bastion.

Well Sephiroth always goes after Cloud since he wants to get rid of him, but he never does.
Cloud is inside though on the verge of taking a nap since it is night now.
