Dub. Dub all the way. Gundam Unicorn's dub is amazing. Example here.

ZZ is one of the awkward ones, admittedly. It's set pretty much straight after Z, which came after Gundam, but it focuses on entirely new characters. It's generally not seen as the best though, to the point where it got no dub at all.
But if you have the chance, watch Gundam Unicorn. You don't need to know anything about Gundam ahead of time (it's my first Gundam series too, though I played Dynasty Warriors Gundam beforehand), and it's just awesome all the way through. Banagher is a really interesting character; not the kind of person you expect to be a straight up hero. And he doesn't always succeed like some others; he wants to not kill anyone, and he's ended up killing several people, including friends, during his fights.

The thing that most people don't realise is that Gundam isn't just one long series. There's different ones, set in different universes, and there's something for everyone. Want a story about a boy realising what war is about? Gundam. Want a less realistic take? Gundam ZZ. Super robots? G Gundam. But the best is definitely Gundam Unicorn. It's about the main character's emotions, and the fact that he doesn't see a reason to choose either side. He works with whoever seems to have the best morals at the time; which usually ends up being this one ship captain who works for Zeon. Strange thing is; Zeon were the outright villains in the original series, whereas here they're portrayed as people that just want to live in space with the same rights as everyone else.

That sums up Gundam Unicorn well. So many people die. It's a pretty good show of war really.
You'll be unsurprised to hear that it's another Dark Falz theme.

That one part is far better in the original. It's said about ten times faster, highlighting the absolute ridiculousness of the attack names.
Also, you're using the word "corny" wrong. That would imply those kind of attack names are overused, when Gurren Lagann is about the only anime that has them say exactly what they're doing, making it actually really clever and unique.
