That's a point; fairly soon I'll need somebody to destroy said Reaper in a way that would allow it to continue speaking for a little while before dying. Ideas?

Versus XIII and Type-0 are linked, but not in that way. They're nothing to do with each other, just have similar themes about crystals and l'Cie.

Oh, and I missed a bit. Before all of this, he kills Lightning, which turns her into crystal. The only protagonists that survive are Noel, Hope, and Sazh. Possibly Snow, but we have no idea where he is.

Also, if you want to know how it happens (you'll likely find out in CC anyway, so...) then here: Caius's heart is The Heart of Chaos, which is essentially the Godess's heart. It makes him as immortal as she, but if somebody is strong enough to kill him, they either kill him forever, or take his place. Turn out killing him forever also kills the Godess, since it's her heart in the first place, and killing her means that time stops alltogether. Noel spares him, so Caius commits suicide on Noel's weapon, which counts, and time stops anyway, which ends up killing Serah. And worse still; the secret ending proves that he survived anyway.

Serah (Lightning's sister) and Noel, yes. He tricks them into doing what he wanted all along.

Well a lot of XIII-2 tracks are very different to the norm. Hell, one was sung by the same guy that did DMC songs. Of course, then there's Caius's theme, which is amazing.
