Sounds different to my turian. My guy's a little crazy; always willing to get directly involved in a combat situation, and being somewhat of a commando. Tempted to make him a Vanguard, but with Invisibility Cloak, since Turian biotics are sometimes used as commando units, but I dunno yet.
A little deviation would be good, though there is absolutely nothing wrong with a by-the-book turian.

The culture gets learned about slowly, through different individuals and asking them different things about it. Generally speaking, that kind of information would be available on the Extranet (super-internet), so it's pretty much common knowledge.

We are, but that's less important because pretty much anyone can have any abilities, including unique ones. My Krogan is a Sentinel, for example, but he can use Biotic Charge. Which is terrifying, because it's already a Krogan.
Turian is likely going to be a Soldier, maybe an Infiltrator. Captain... no idea yet.

Well there's a wiki for that. In any case, I'm making it an alternate universe to the games; Shepard doesn't exist, and we go from there following a group through all three games, but radically different, and massively different people in the group. For example, Bushy is having a Quarian girl that loves explosives and fights like a krogan, whereas I seem to have the opposite; a krogan that relies on intelligence and technical skill to get by. Pretty much any species can be played as part of the crew, so long as you have a good enough reason to. We also have one major villain set up already, a quarian male. I love his design already. :3
