You usually get a communal TV in your common room shared between people in your hall or if you really want you can have one in your room but I think you have to pay for a TV license if you do that. The sharing food thing I've heard doesn't happen that much as you get your own cuboards and you can label stuff if need be but it depends on the people you share with. As for washing up, okay, you might have that problem depending on the people again. So, you sound like you're planning on going self-catered with the talk on kitchens, not catered. That right?

Also it's quite normal for rooms that don't have an en suite to have a sink/basin, I think so that people aren't using the bathroom just to use the sink.

But seriously, I like Maroon 5, Linkin Park, 30 Seconds To Mars, most anything Vocaloid, Kelly Clarkson, a lot of anime openings/endings, Adele, Florence + the Machine, BTR, Asking Alexandria (they're screamo, but their songs have their lovely moments), One Republic, Flyleaf, Evanescence, Falling Up, Red, and lots of other things. All of those are just off the top of my head.
