It doesn't hurt me because it won't help me move forward to grieve. I purge emotions that will not help me complete my goals. I believe that one can choose to control their emotions completely if they wish to. I have chosen to control mine in this way to the point that I do not have to think about it anymore. You could say that I am like a cat; most people play a role in my life rather than become valuable to me. I enjoy them while I can, but when they are gone, it is just a matter of finding someone whom I can enjoy in their place. I have a few people that I love, but my family are not among them. Ah, well.

I agree that both of those are similar tragedies. However, as I said, more people than that die every day. Furthermore, 3,000 is only three times 1,000. It is a 300% increase. Comparatively, the number of recorded deaths in Iraq is thirty three times 3,000. That is a 3300% increase. Numbers certainly begin to matter at those levels.

Ah, I did address this is my last post, but rape rates triple where US soldiers are deployed and many of the people that were killed were likely raped beforehand. That did not happen to any of the people who were killed on 9/11.

That is correct. Death does not affect me the same way it affects other people. However, I can easily judge the difference between killing three thousand people and killing one hundred thousand people.

Why is one condemned and the other defended? If I insult 9/11, people get offended. If call out the atrocity of the war, they point to 9/11. If I insult 9/11 again by pointing to the atrocity of the war, they still get offended.

At what point does their offense allow them to mock Arabs and claim that all Muslims are terrorists when they killed so many of them? At what point does their offense allow them to silence me? It is all meaningless to me, but they have no basis for getting offended. That I stand by.

I do not consider it tragic. More than three thousand people die every day. I did not know of those people. No one who did not know them should feel affiliated with those people. They certainly should not feel more familiar with the less than 3,000 who died in the events on 9/11 than the the more than 100,000 documented civilian deaths in Iraq.

      100,000 - 3,000 = 97,000 civilian deaths.

Those deaths were at the hands of soldiers. The large majority of them were killed by individuals rather than a few people on crashing planes. I consider cold-blooded murder worse than getting caught in a building that someone wished to destroy. Don't you agree?

Frankly, the friends and families of those 100,000 have far more reason to be offended by defenses of the war than anyone who cares about 9/11—even the friends and family of those who died on it. Come talk to me about tragedy when you have personal stock in it. Blame others for getting offended, not those who offend them. They have no basis for offense, after all.

I wasn't saying that they should forget about the event and laugh at the picture.

Why didn't you respond to me instead in that thread?
