From what I understood, they wanted to give Leo (I forget the name of the main character) a second chance at realizing he killed his wife, even after three or so years in hopeful recovery.

In the end, he had convinced himself once again that he was a detective on a case at the asylum.

So they proceeded witha lobotomy.

Very much so.


The ending is quite bleak if you ask me.
