It is not difficult for me because I do it constantly. You get used to it.

If a series is based on actions, then I see little point in hearing anything. But I have grown up with subbing, so it is easy to watch everything.

All dubs are equivalent to adaptations of a series, and I dislike that. Americanization of any film or series bothers me. I prefer the Japanese because the artist affects the voices directly and makes sure that it goes with his idea. A lot of the time an anime's artist does not get to choose most of these things because they are new to the industry, so I can imagine the kind of butchering that it would get in another country. Subbing works for me.

My main complaint with most any dub is the strain on the voices. Every scene is twice as dramatic and childish-sounding because everyone is screaming. Scenes lack emotion when they are not said in the original Japanese. You have the same problem when reading light novels. Some things just do not translate completely. Moods are changed when someone adds poetry, because poetry does not rhyme in another language. Word choice is important in writing and anime, so I prefer to get to the original as I can without learning Japanese.

I never watch anime dubbed. Not unless I have to. I never watch it on TV, since I don't have it.

It sounds like you like a certain style, mainstream things... I like psychological series, like Death Note and Liar Game, those kinds of things.
