Wartime Reverie

"I had to take a leak and this was the nearest bathroom to wear I was hanging out," Allen said. "A better question would be what are you doing here? I mean do you often sit and read about-" He stopped to check what book she was reading, -"mythology outside of public restrooms."

 

A man in a white cloak walked into the library, and then sat down at the table Drei was sitting at. The man wore a hood so that his face would not be seen. The man glanced over at Drei and then said "So... late night, huh?" The man then paused before saying "Hey, can I ask you a question?"

 

“I am this young man’s advocate, appointed to him by the academy, you can’t speak with him unless I am here or if he orders me away” the man said as he stood next to Mixt “So now you can speak to him.”

 

" My friend is in the girls restroom taking a shower... I wanted to escort her back to our dorm soon so that she doesn't risk some perverted buffoon making the moves on her like what had happened earlier...." Phisoxa said with a sigh as she rested her head against the wall behind her.

Juno rose a brow at the man's claim. " Excuse me I don't remember the Academy saying anything of the sort... where is your identification?" Juno asked.

 

Drei looked at the man before him. With that hood covering his face he couldn't tell if he knew him or not, but apparently he knew something about last night. "Sure what is it?" He responded.

 

The man began talking. "Well, you see, I've been observing you and you are a very good student and, because of that, I have a little job for you. I want you to kill a teacher here without anyone knowing about it, do you think you can handle that?"

 

Allen somewhat admired her desire to protect her friend, and felt a twinge of disgust at how terrible some guys could be. "I don't think there's much risk of that happening right now," he gestured around to emphasize the empty hall, then put his hands behind his head and leaned against the wall himself. "But I guess it doesn't make much difference to me. So, what do you think about Mixt and... whoever the other guy was?" He shook his head. "how messed up is that? I know the murderer's name but not the victim's. Come to think of it I don't know your name either, do I?"

 

The man's request had shocked him. Why would he want him to kill a teacher. "Why me?" Before he would give an answer, he would first have to get some more answer on this.

 

"Of course" he said as he pulled out a small emblem and passed it to Juno, it was the Royal Emblem of Eclipscion only carried by the Emperor. "Ooops, wrong one" he said quickly as he took it back and passed Juno another emblem with some documents that identified him as part of the academy staff.

 

"Simple, you are very innocent looking, no one would know it was you. And also I think you are talented enough to get the job done." Said the man. "Now, will you do it?"

 

" The name's Phisoxa Mindell... and yes lately my mind has been alive with thoughts about what happened that night..." Phisoxa said with a soft sight as she pulled her knees up to her chin and rested her head on them. " I just wish things would return back to normal around here..."

" Alright then... If you don't mind I need to interrogate your guy here, Mr. Xemit. I won't use any force.. just some questions about his past..." Juno said.

 

Well he couldn't deny that he was right about how he looked, but still there was one more thing he needed to clarify before making a decision. "What if I refused the offer?"

 

"I wish first to speak to my client alone and in private, as is his right" the man said to Juno "Unless you wish to deny him his rights" the man added as he approached Juno.

 

Juno sighed and turned towards the door. " Alright then, I will give you some privacy. I will be back in ten minutes for some information alright..." Juno said as she walked out of the room, slamming the door behind her.

 

Seeing Phisoxa get upset caused Allen to forget his tough-guy act. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you." He was going to put his hand on her shoulder, but stopped as he remembered that they didn't even really know each other. "I know what you mean though, I spent the whole day doing some of my favorite things. But I just couldn't get it out of my head. Eventually I just decided 'screw it' and took a nap," he hesitated a moment, "I ended up having a nightmare about what happened." He put his head in his hands. "I just can't get my mind off of it. I even decided to sit down and talk with you because I knew you were there too. It just doesn't make any sense y'know."

 

Mixt almost laughed after the door slammed. He knew things would get interesting after his actions yesterday, but there was nothing that would have prepared him for this. "Based on that emblem it looks like I've got myself one hell of a lawyer. But why come here yourself? Surely you've got bigger fish to fry Torxber" he said, smirking at his fortune.

 

"Lets just say I enjoy looking out for my investments" he said as he handed Mixt some documents "These documents will make you an official citizen of my Empire and the other my adopted son, both make you immune to being charged with anything in this academy. Its up to you if you sign them, but it does make my job easier, I did plan to have you sign these before something like this happened but of well"

 

" Pretty soon winter is going to come... hopefully by then things will calm down and maybe have a good time.. I just hope I can regain my sanity by then though...." Phisoxa said with a sigh as she stood up. Suddenly a woman came marching down the hallway, looking a little pissed off. It was Juno the police officer and Phisoxa was about to ask her something but she ignored Phisoxa and kept going, disappearing into the shadow that fell upon the other end of the hall. " I see the thing with Mixt isn't going over well with the police either..."

 

Suddenly Mixt was confused. "Hold on. You, the Emperor of Eclipscion, wanted to adopt me, some random orphan, before I killed someone. While that explains how you get here so fast, I don't see how you even knew I existed before yesterday." Mixt shook his head in disbelief. "All the same both are offers that I would count myself lucky to receive, events of yesterday or no. What's the catch?" As Mixt asked this he started to quickly skim over the contracts to see if he could immediately identify anything in them that wasn't standard.

 

“I have known about you for a long time, since before you were born. You have a great destiny to fulfil, but you will only be able to fulfil it if you are given the proper chance, now that chance is just a signature away. Let’s be honest, you have never belonged here, and the event the other day only proved that, after all you enjoyed it” The Emperor said pacing back and forth.
