Van Helsing

Hannah cried out, her hand flying to her back. She barely registered what happened, but the smell of blood was starting to overpower her pain. She involuntarily dropped to her knees. Damn... It's like he only has silver bullets.

 

"What reason?" Van Helsing asked. "I'm curious."

 

"I'm not sure, actully. I can't seem to decide whether it's because I think he'd kill you or you him..." Jinx bit the inside of her cheek, thoughfully.

 

"Huh," Van Helsing muttered. "I'm sorry, but I am I to understand you think I wouln't be able to kill him?"

 

"Hannah," Edward choked out, stumbling over to her. "I..." he faded off, kneeling next to her. His hands hovered over her back, not wanting to touch her without causing her more pain. "Are you alright? I'm sorry, but... if you hadn't stopped me I would have shot him earlier..."

 

"That's what I can't figure out..." Jinx answered. She looked at him and laughed. "Oh, I see. I'm sorry, it's not your skills I doubt, it's how good he is that worries me." she explained, seeing she had bruised his ego slightly.

 

"It's fine..." Hannah's voice shook. "It doesn't hurt...." She knew she had to get the bullet out in order for the wound to heal, but she didn't move. The location made it a lot harder.

 

"Jinx, dear," Van Helsing laughed. "I think I can handle him. It can't be that hard if he ever crosses mine or your path again."

 

"What can I do?" Edward asked. "Should... should I go find someone? Van Helsing? Beatrice? Carl? What can I do?"

 

Jinx raised an eyebrow at his words and tried not to laugh. "You think it'd be so easy? Well, with that attitude, I sincerly hope you two never meet." she stopped walking and sat down on a bench, gesturing for him to sit down too. "What are you thinking I mean when I say he's good? What pops into your head for his skills?" she asked, honestly curious.

 

"I'm sure he thinks he can rival me in any skill... guns, swords, mind tricks, arrows, anything... but little does he know what I can do when I'm angry..."

 

Jinx ticked off her responce to the things he suggested, "He doesn't use guns, swords, arrows, or anything like that. Yes, he's faster and stronger than most vampires, but what will really get you is not what he does to your mind, but to your body." she smiled, "You said 'little does he know what I can do when I'm angry...' but how would you like it if you couldn't get angry? If all you could do was be calm and trust him?" she asked.

 

Hannah shut her eyes. "Okay, I lied... It hurts..." She grit her teeth. "Just get me away from the blood... Then get whoever you think can take a bullet out..."

 

"I told you I can handle mind tricks," Van Helsing sighed. "You need to have a little more faith in me, dear."

 

"Alright," Edward stuttered, thinking fast. "I... I can go get Beatrice to stay with you, and I will run and get Jinx and Van Helsing. Where did they head?"

 

Hannah groaned. "Probably somewhere recognizable... Try the church or the collesium..." She took her hand away from her back and braced herself against the floor. "Beatrice!" She called hoarsely.

Beatrice heard Hannah's call and came quickly. "Oh my God..." Her stomach rolled when she saw the mess. "Wh- what happened...?"

 

"Stay with her," Edward said quickly, standing and going toward the door. "I'll be back soon!"

 

Beatrice knelt by Hannah, a wave of nausea passing over her. "What can I do, Hannah?"

"Nothing..." Hannah murmured. "Unless you know how to take a bullet out..."

Beatrice noticed the wound. "Oh... No, I can't... But, um... I could-"

"It's fine." Hannah interrupted. "You might not want to look at Elijah."

"A bit late." Beatrice said, half-smiling.

Hannah laughed, causing more pain where the bullet was lodged. "Damn...."

"Sorry..." Beatrice wanted to do more to make Hannah more comfortable, but she was afraid it would only increase her pain.

 

Jinx sighed, exasperated, "Van Helsing, I just said, it's not mind tricks. He..." she laughed, "Why are we even arguing? He'll never come after me... he threw me away over a century ago."

 

Van Helsing nodded in agreement. "Good," he said. "Well, I'm glad that you're rid of him... that's a..."

But he faded off, his eye catching a man running toward them. "Is..." he began uncertainly, pointing for Jinx to see. "Is that Edward?"
