Van Helsing

Jinx felt bad, seeing Beatice so scared. "Beatice...." she sighed. "I'm sorry this is all happening so suddenly for you." she said, and then listened for a moment. "Okay, you want to surprise it and then..." she bit the inside of her cheek, knowing Beatice would probably hate this part. "you need to bite it's throat before it has time to react.... then... well just let instinct take over. okay? Do you think you can...eh, do it?" she asked, not wanting to push her too hard.

 

"Don't apologize," Edward muttered. "You don't even seem like you mean it."

 

Lestat took out his pocket watch once more, glancing at the time. John should have gotten back to them already...

 

"Of course she doesn't." John yanked Hannah up by her arm.

Hannah had given up by now and didn't bother to fight against John. "I really do mean it, Edward.... And I really do lo-"

John clamped his hand over her mouth. "I don't want to hear you say or think those words."

Beatrice nodded. "Yeah I do."

 

"alright. I'll be right here if you need any help. Go to it." Jinx grinned at Beatice and threw her hand in the direction of the animal. "good luck."

 

Edward stood as well, clenching his hands into fists at his sides. "Don't expect me to thank you for letting me talk to her," he growled.

 

"Don't expect me to care." John retorted. "Like I said before: consider her ours now."

Edward, I'll do anything to make it up to you! I don't care what you did with that girl! I really don't care! I just want to be with you, even if you hate me! Hannah pleaded.

 

Edward winced, his mind conflicted. "Please let her go," he tried, his hand straying to the gun by his side.

 

Lestat grinned from nearby, his deep yellow eyes glittering. Ours? he repeated in his head. Not something I'd prefer, but I can work with it...

 

John noticed the small movement. "What good will that do you?"

 

"We need her more than you do," Edward tried to explain, his hand on the handle of Van Helsing's gun. "Our group... everyone out there, including the girl you killed!" he added, snapping at Lestat.

 

"She lives," Lestat differed politely. "Just as John's girl does... for much longer and better than you ever will."

 

"I am not his girl!" Hannah protested after biting John's hand to get it off her mouth. "I don't want to be either!"

The holes in John's hand vanished quickly. "You won't have a choice in six months. Make it easy on yourself and just let it happen now."

 

"What do I have to do?" Edward began, getting desperate, pulling Van Helsing's gun from his belt. "I will shoot you, fight you, do whatever I can, you must understand that by now!"

 

You're being foolish, Edward, Lestat said cooly in the werewolf's mind. I would leave or John and I can kill you... hell, just I can kill you with one hand!

 

"You know very well that I can place Hannah in front of me before that bullet leaves you gun." John said coolly, though he would never do it.

"I've healed before Edward; you saw! I don't care what you do!" Hannah was glad she could speak her mind now. I just want to be with you.

 

"Then what the hell do you want me to do, Hannah?" Edward cried, pulling the gun's hammer back. "John doesn't want me to shoot, you do, Lestat could care less?" A growl rose in his throat, and hhe hung his head between his knees for a moment, and then rose, with the gun's muzzle against his throat. "Or shall I get out of your way?" he muttered, staring at Hannah. "Your life would be much easier; you will forget me in a few hundred years anyway."

 

Stupid boy! Lestat demanded, his eyes narrowing. Enough! Walk away!

 

"Edward, no!" Hannah cried.

"Do you think any of us want to look into her eyes for the next hundred years if she loses you?" John glared at Edward. "You make things much more difficult than they need to be."

 

"Then give her to me!" Edward growled, his fingers white against the gun. "Now!"
