Hmm... I noticed a few gramatical errors in this chapter.
It was a good chapter nonetheless. I enjoyed it.
I'm curious to know who this unknown figure is.

    Keep on writing.
    And support fellow writers.

    It's always the grammar...

Oh, I can't contain myself! I'll tell you that this character has been seen before, but not in KH. I left a few hints in the story. See if you can guess...

Either way, it still dones't seems to have any connectoin with Sora's Christmas, but its a ver interesting story.

I would say that it was Seipher but he was in KH.

True, but if you remember from the game, we didn't find out exactly what Kingdom Hearts was until it was almost at the end of the first game. Don't worry, I won't make you wait that long, lol.

    Next chapter:

    *2 days later*

Leon sat behind the keyboard of the computer in Ansem's study, typing away. Everything was coming together faster than he and the others expected. It was all a matter of time before they could finally commence in using the program Tron had recovered from his last venture. Leon spoke back and forth to Merlin on a wireless headset.

"I can't believe it's almost here, Merlin. If Tron hadn't found that program with the...what?...Kairi's with Yuffie, learning to use some weapons and techniques, and Riku's with Cid and a few of the Moogles learning how to make those polymers through their synthesis workshop. Why?...Oh, really? How's Cloud?...Excellent, it's good that he can move on now. What about Tifa?...Good, but why...Aerith's with Kairi also. I think she's trying to teach her how to use white magic...What? You ran into...!"

Leon stood up, clutching the headset, "Are you serious? He's there?! Why? We thought for sure that he was...Uh-huh...Well, I guess that makes sense...Aerith will be happy to know about this...What do you mean don't tell her yet?...Oh, I see. Yeah, that's a good idea. She'll definitely be surprised...Yeah, you can bring Sora here. We've set up everything so fast that he can see the process himself, from a good distance of course...No, don't tell him anything about it just yet, especially Kairi's role. If he heard it now, there's no way he'd allow it...I don't like this any more than you do, but we need...Of course I've tried looking somewhere else, but there isn't anybody here suited, let alone pure enough, for that kind of position,"

Leon sat back down, rubbing his temples, "At least she'll have Riku to help out...Well, if you know of any other takers, I'd love to hear them and interview them...What about Cloud and Tifa? Are they going to be coming?...Really? I'd have thought Cloud would have to dragged over here. I've never known him to look forward to anything, especially this...well, that's true. I guess when it comes to holding your darkness back, you can't really avoid giving it an opening...No, I don't think the King would agree to setting up a republic with the worlds. Even if it did open up a new order, there'd be too much of a power struggle. Merlin, believe me, I wish I knew of another way that didn't involve Kairi, but I can't see any. Even Tron can't figure a way, at least not one above 10%. This is the only way. Who knows? Maybe everyone will feel better after the party...You'll be back here in time before the party? With Sora and everyone?...hmm...Okay, that'll work. Just let me know a few hours in advance, okay?...Yeah, later."

Leon stopped typing and took the headset off his head. He wouldn't blame Sora one bit if he struck him down after hearing this. He fought with everything he had in him to save Kairi and Riku, and he's doing this to him. This would probably be worse than dying to him, Leon thought, It's certainly not the ideal thing to do, but...

Leon threw the headset as hard as he could against the wall. If there was anything else he could do, he'd do it. He'd take Kairi's place for her if that would help, but since he wasn't a prince of heart, there'd be no chance of that happening. Leon lowered his head into his hands.

Riku knocked on the wall, "Busy?"

Leon looked up, "No, just taking a break. What do you need?"

Riku walked towards Leon, "I need a reminder: Why aren't we involving Sora in this again?"

Leon raised an eyebrow. He didn't like the tone of Riku's voice, "For two reasons: The first being Sora's computer skills are more than a little destructive. Our security cameras showed what he did to the computer after he helped Tron retrieve the data. If he had the struck the keyboard one or two keys to the left or right, he'd have triggered the self-destruct sequence in the heartless manufactory. Since we didn't know how to stop the MCP at the time, let alone a self-destruct, we wouldn't have been able to get this far,"

"Second, and more importantly, it's because he's the keymaster of light. The light he uses every time he summons the keyblade would interfere with the defense grid while the program's operating could interfere and possibly turn Radiant Garden into an even worse Hollow Bastion than it was before that witch ruined it into the ground. Why do you ask, Riku?"

Riku took a deep breath, and sighed. He would never be ready to do this, "I understand all of that. I understand that we can't bring Sora to this place to help with the setup. I understand why we're delaying in him coming here. What I don't understand is why we don't tell him any of this yet."

    Leon started, "Riku..."

Riku spoke up again, "This is tearing him and Kairi apart, in more ways than one. They have just now found each other. Do you honestly think this is best for either of them?"

Leon tried again, "Merlin's bringing Sora here tomorrow. It should be about the same time this little project is done, so after that has been accomplished, then we can tell him everything."

Riku sighed, "I hope so. I don't know how badly he'll take this, though." He started to walk out the doorway, then stopped, "One last question: Why tomorrow? Why are we waiting until then?"

Leon stated simply, "Tomorrow will be Christmas Eve. We lost Radiant Garden, and almost all hope, on that day. It's been almost 12 years since then. It's only fitting we regain not only our hope, but our dreams on that same day."

Sure. I'll have another chapter up tomorrow, so you won't have to wait long.

Did I do better on grammar, or did I mess up on some parts again?

the telephone sequence had some bad grammar in that it was hard to follow. I have my suspicions about the plot but I don't potentially be a spoiler so I'll keep them in my head.

Wish granted! Here's the next chapter:

    *Next day*

Kairi and Riku entered Ansem's study. Leon and King Mickey were working on opposite ends of the computer, Mickey checking the wiring, and Leon doing some quick diagnostics. The day they had all been working for finally arrived.

Mickey turned towards Kairi and Riku when he heard them come in, "Glad you two are here. We're going to begin as soon as we're done checking the equipment."

Leon spoke without looking up, "You two learn anything new, or were you just going over previous techniques?"

Kairi replied, "Yuffie showed me how to make a shuriken turn direction while it's in the air, and Aerith showed me how to remotely use white magic."

Riku shrugged, "I mainly reviewed, but I had to perform under a time limit."

Leon nodded, "Glad you two are getting the hang of it," He looked up at the King, "I'm finished here."

Mickey looked up as well, "I'm done too. You tell everyone we're ready, and Riku and I will go get into position." Leon nodded, and Riku and the King left the room, running. Kairi watched them as they went off. This was it.

"Where are they going again? I keep forgetting this part." asked Kairi.

"Just a second," said Leon. He pushed a button marked 'speaker' and held it, "Listen up, everyone. We're ready to begin. Everyone get into the listed safety zones, and make sure everyone you know is in there with you." Leon released the button, "Riku's going to the base of the castle Maleficent once claimed her dominion, while King Mickey's going to the top of this castle."

A buzz from the computer resulted in the computer's speaker turning on, "Cid, here. Standing by, and ready to begin."

    "Yuffie, standing by."

    "Aerith, standing by."

    "Mickey, standing by."

    "Riku, standing by."

Leon pressed another button, "Leon, standing by." Kairi spoke in the same microphone as Leon, "Kairi, standing by." Leon released the button, and Kairi spoke again, "Did you receive that call from Merlin, yet?"

Leon nodded, "Yeah. He'll arrive with Sora and the others in the forest just outside the Dark Depths. That should be a good distance so he won't mess anything up." Leon checked his figures just one more time, and then spoke into the mike one more time, "Okay, guys, we're going to start as soon as we get enough energy from the defensive grid. Is everyone ready?"

There was a group, "Yes." and one "Let's get on with it!" from Cid.

Leon grinned, "Alright. Riku, Your Majesty, please begin."

Mickey, from the top of the tallest castle peak, nodded as heard the confirmation from Leon. He summoned his dark-Kingdom keyblade, and raised it into the air. The blade glowed and shot a brilliant beam of light into the air, which stopped at a certain point, and split into many other beams that shot back down towards the edges of the city, each beam hitting one of the orbs from the defensive grid placed outside the city.

Riku did the same as the king. He stood at the top of the castle that caused him and his friends so much pain and mimicked what the king performed. Together, the two of them formed a grid of light that completely surrounded the fallen kingdom of Hollow Bastion.

Leon monitored the power levels that the defensive grid was collecting, "Easy...just a little more...okay, we're ready to begin 'phase 2'. Riku, Mickey, you're doing great so far, keep it up. Cid? We're ready, you and Tron run that program at your end."

"Check. Initiating program, "Reverse/Rebirth"." said Cid.

"Good. Aeirth? We're ready for you to use that Terra spell you found. Kairi? It's time you put that 'remote spell casting' you learned to the test: Use your magic and help assist Aerith from here."

"Got it." from Kairi, and Aeirth (from the speaker). Kairi clapped her hands together and began to chant a very silent prayer, slowly starting to glow white.

"Yuffie? Stand by in case you need to rush to any of the other positions for assistance."

"Gotcha, Squall." giggled Yuffie. A vein appeared in Leon's head, "Focus, Yuffie, and for the last time, it's Leon!"

"This is Cid. The program is ready to start in ten seconds, Leon." Leon nodded, "Starting countown: Ten. Nine. Eight. Seven. Six. Five. Four. Three. Two. One. Start now." Leon and Kairi heard a button being pressed over the mike.

It all happened in an instant. As soon as they heard the button being pressed, all of Hollow Bastion was engulfed in a white light. The complex began to shake as though an earthquake were happening. It seemed as though the world was going to end, the earthquake slowly but surely getting worse, the rumbling getting louder. Leon couldn't hear anything but rumbling, so if anyone was in trouble, aiding them from here was out of the question.

Then, as quickly as it began, it stopped, suddenly and swiftly. Kairi opened her eyes and clutched her head, making sure she was still able to stand. She had never felt so dizzy in all her life. Leon picked himself up from the ground and pressed the mike button, "Everyone, status report." No answer. Kairi's eyes widened, and Leon's eyes narrowed a little. He released the button and pressed it again, "Status report. Somebody out there, answer me!" This time there was a weak groan, "...Leon?"

    "Cid? Are you all right?"

"Leon...you gotta...you gotta get outside. It's too horrible to look at." Leon, fearing the worst, grabbed the wireless headset, put it on, and ran out the door. Kairi followed him, anxious and terrified to find out how badly they messed this up.

"Cid, are you okay? Is anyone dead?" Leon asked as he passed door after door, until he finally reached the door to the balcony. "Leon...I just got one thing to say to you..." Leon opened the last door and ran out to the balcony.

Kairi clapped her hands over her mouth, while Leon let his mouth drop. "Oh my...Leon, this is...it's beautiful!" Leon grinned a little, "Cid, you son of a-"

"This is the one thing I gotta say: Gotcha sucker!" laughed Cid.

    Leon smiled, "We did it."

A portal opened up outside of the Dark Depths, and Sora, Merlin, Cloud, Tifa, and the cloaked soldier emerged from it. Cloud was leaning on Tifa for support, Tifa blushing a little, while Cloud was looking away, a very, very slight grin on his face. Sora was talking to Merlin, while the cloaked soldier frowned at the sight of Hollow Bastion.

"So, why are returning from this distance?" asked Sora.

    Merlin smiled, "You'll see."

As if on cue, a bright flash of light and trembling of the earth emerged. Sora fell on his back, Tifa and Cloud fell to their knees, and the cloaked soldier stumbled a little. Meanwhile, Merlin just stood there, whistling while cleaning his glasses with his robe. In only a few moments, the trembling stopped and the light faded, and Hollow Bastion gone. In it's place, a grand and magnificent kingdom, long thought never to be seen again, shone brightly and beautifully in the sunlight, surrounded by a lush, green forest. The all-too-familiar-symbol of Kingdom Hearts glimmered on the side of the tallest pillar of the castle.

The soldier whistled, "It's been a long time since I've seen that place this clean."

Tifa's jaw dropped, while Cloud's eyes widened a little. Cloud spoke, "Not a light show this time, either."

Sora was beside himself, only this time it felt like he was beside himself and Roxas, "Merlin, is that...?"

Merlin put his glasses back on, "Yes, Sora. That's Radiant Garden, restored to it's previous majesty and former glory."

The group picked themselves up, and proceeded to the castle, anxious to find what else was in store.

My god, this is a very impressive story. Love how you made Roxas and Namine part of the story too a few chapters back. And I have no idea who the cloaked character is, unless it's related to FFXII... which I doubt.

Keep at it man. I'll be thinking about this story on Monday.... :3

    Next chapter, folks:

"Okay, Merlin, tell me one more time, why couldn't you guys let me help again?" asked Sora.

Merlin sighed. The group had gone half-way into the newly restored Radiant Garden, and Merlin had explained this twice to Sora. Merlin was more than a little annoyed that Sora was asking this question again.

"Very well, but pay attention, because this is the last time I'm going to explain it to you: Riku was asked to come because he knew how to operate the computers that Ansem had used before his apprentices went rogue, as well as his undercover work in the Organization. Ansem was known to use many passwords and fail-safes that he used, as well as what the Organization might have changed them to before they were driven out,"

"Kairi was asked, partly because she was a princess of heart, and because of that, she, along with Aerith, were the only two qualified enough to learn and perform a rare white magic that allows you restore what was disrupted and distraught by the darkness by summoning large amounts of light. You were not allowed to come because of your being a keyblade master of light. We did some research on your particular keyblade, and found that the light that your keyblade emits when it is in combat actually interfered with our restoring the kingdom. For some strange reason, Riku and the King's keyblades didn't have that problem. We suspect that it's because of their keyblades coming from, or at some point in time being in, darkness."

The group walked all the way up to a square in the middle of town, with a beautiful fountain of children riding on giant fish in the middle. Cloud, with Tifa under his arm helping him along, and the cloaked soldier stopped to rest on a park bench, talking about how much the town had changed and didn't, even though it was exactly the way they remembered it, and ignoring the conversation Sora and Merlin were having.

Sora was starting to understand what Merlin was telling him, but there was one thing still bugging him, so he asked, "Why didn't you guys at least tell me why I couldn't help?"

Merlin, who was a few feet in front of Sora, swallowed. This part he really didn't want to explain. There just wasn't an easy way to tell him, and even if there was, he just wasn't the person to tell it. He took a deep breath, and without facing Sora, he said, "That's just something you'll have to ask the others about." Sora sighed. He didn't like this at all.

Tifa, Cloud and the cloaked soldier were enjoying the breeze, when something caught the soldier's eye. "No way," he said. He got up off the bench and walked over to a nearby lamppost, and examined it. Then, suddenly, he burst into laughter, "Hey, Cloud! This is the same lamppost you got thrown into when you fought Yuffie that one time! It's still got then dent!"

Cloud looked up at it, cocked his head a little, then raised his eyebrows a little, "Oh yeah, it is. I remember that time. We were eight, I just met Yuffie, I thought she was a guy, voiced that thought, and then all heck broke lose." Everyone laughed at that, but then quickly stopped. The group heard someone laughing, and searched until they saw that it was Cloud laughing. Cloud stopped laughing when he saw everyone smiling at him. Cloud raised an eyebrow, "What?" Tifa raised an eyebrow in return, "In all the years I've known you, I've never seen you laugh. Not even a chuckle. Why is that?" Cloud's smile faded, "You know why." Everyone's smiles started to fade a little until the cloaked soldier quickly slung his arm around Cloud and spoke, "Yeah, but that was the past. Come on, doesn't it feel better to laugh now? Come on, why don't you let another one out?" Cloud grinned a little and raised an eyebrow, "Don't push it." Everyone laughed again. The soldier spoke up again, "Come on. Let's keep moving."

After another ten minutes of walking, they finally arrived at Merlin's house. A bit cleaner on the outside now, but otherwise the same as it was before the restoration. Merlin opened the door, and everyone entered the house. Leon and Yuffie were unpacking some boxes when the others found them, but before anyone could say anything, the cloaked soldier put up his hand in a 'shush' sign. He took his cloak off his head.

At first glance his face was almost exactly like Cloud's, or at least very close considering they had the same gleam in their eyes. The main difference between the two was the hair: The soldier's hair was jet black, and most of it was spiked straight up, save a few long strands that went down and covered half of his eyes. He grinned at Yuffie and Leon's surprise, and winked as he made another shush sign as Yuffie almost spoke. She mouthed, "Zack?!"

Zack winked again, and mouthed, "Where's Aerith?"

Leon grinned a little, and jabbed his at the doorway at the wall opposite them, and mouthed, "In the kitchen."

Zack nodded, mouthed "Thanks," and quietly proceeded. A few moments later, Yuffie smiled and whispered, "You think she'll remember him?"

As if on cue, there was a loud crash that everyone knew came from the kitchen. Leon led the charge as everyone ran to the kitchen, and everyone's sudden fright quickly changed to the raising of eyebrows, and suppression of awe and giggles. Aerith's arms were wrapped over Zack's shoulders and around his neck, while Zack's wrapped around Aerith's back. The two were, to say the very least, kissing each other, but the tears that everyone saw on Aerith's face told everyone that she never thought she'd see him again, and the broken bowl of salad on the floor told them not only where the noise came from, but since it was nowhere near the counter, a complete surprise to her as well. Sora leaned over to Yuffie and whispered, "Offhand, yeah, I'd say she remembers him." Yuffie punched Sora's arm, and everyone fought to supress the laughter. Leon motioned everyone to leave the kitchen. Everyone left, with Zack and Aerith never noticing them there to begin with.

As soon as they got back into the room they got back into the room they originally entered, in Leon spoke up, "Well, Sora, offhand, what do you all think of the new, or rather old, Radiant Garden?"

Sora replied, "It's a little confusing. It reminds me of so many places. The streets and buildings remind me of Paris, particularly just outside Notre Dame, but the plants here are so wild, I can't help but picture the plants just outside of the Beast's castle. The castle looks a lot like the Beast's too, but much more noble looking and fixed up." Leon smiled, "Well, this is what we were hoping for. We have you to thank for this, Sora. When you helped Tron, and he found that picture of Radiant Garden when it was first built, it turned out a restoration program was included, but it was so heavily encripted it took us awhile to get it operational."

Yuffie decided to change the boring topic to something more exciting, "Anyway, we're having a party tonight to celebrate Radiant Garden's rebirth/first Christmas! Everyone and anyone's invited...and it looks like you're already dressed for the occasion, Sora."

"Wha?" Sora looked at himself in surprise. His clothes had changed into what looked like his limit form, but his shorts also had a tree pattern on the side, and his coat was replaced by some kind of Santa-replica, with crown shaped buttons and frilly, white fur on the ends of it's short sleeves and the bottom of the jacket. On top of his head, Sora was wearing a Santa-Clause-looking-hat. "I didn't know I had these on. I guess the change occurred as soon as we entered the city."

Sora looked up, "Do you know where Riku and Kairi are? I want to talk to them for awhile."

Leon replied, "Riku should be in the town square, helping to prepare for the party tonight. I don't know where Kairi is, though." Sora nodded, and went through the front door. Tifa and Cloud followed after Sora, with Tifa asking Cloud as they left, "So, why don't you ever kiss me like that?" and Cloud's face turning scarlet. Yuffie followed, determined not to miss a second of this.

Leon chuckled, but then stopped as he heard a noise from behind. Leon turned around, "You can come out now. Sora left to find Riku."

"Yeah, I heard." Kairi came out from the hallway, looking troubled.

"You know...you don't have to be the one to tell him. It's my fault, I'll do it if you don't feel up to it."

Kairi shook her head, "No, it'd be better if it came from me. Besides, who else is going to be able to explain it to Sora that I can't come back with him to the Destiny Islands."
