You've gotta be insane to take 5 or 6 classes in one semester.

Anyways, back on topic: That's a great graduation present for you. You should see if you can get an all paid trip as well

A full college year has about 6 classes per semester (at least that's the standard here), 11 or 12 each year.
Sounds urgh-er? It does to me.

I am not in the least surprised.

Standered here is 4. Some people might take more, but that's usually at universitys and stuff. The community college allows only 4 at max. But if we want to get technical, I'm taking 6, just because of Chemistry being in 3 parts

I took four my first semester and have taken five every semester since. Next semester, I'm taking six, which is the max. It's only the max because of the hours. A regular student at my university has to take a minimum of 12 hours and a maximum of 19 hours. Most classes are either 3 or 4 hours long. Five 3-hour classes and one 4-hour class for me totals up to 19 hours and six classes. Is your 3-part Chemistry class all at once? Are you taking all three parts in one class or what?
I know most universities separate Economics into two 3-hour courses (Microeconomics and Macroeconomics) but mine combined all six hours into one 4 hour class. Is that what your community college does with Chem?

Nope, the chemistry counts as one class, but it's three seperate classes

Ah, I know what you mean now. It's quite common. Though I've only heard of two separate classes, usually a lecture and a lab or discussion.

What we are asking is that can be interpretted two ways

    1) It is three seperate classes that you have combined into one

    2) It is a single class with the workload of three

All this about how many classes is "normal" is why I usually just go by credit hours.
