Alphas

With the other alphas able to just walk in whenever the fact that someone was knocking cause Rosalie to jump from her seat. Had she actually forgotten to unlock it? That was her hope but one look outside proved her wrong. Who was this man and what did he want?

As careful as possible she opened the door, feeling confident that if he brought trouble her power would be more than enough to protect herself since it worked on most. If he was one of those types that it failed to work on then... Then she wouldn't know what to do. She was too vain to admit or even show signs of fear though, despite it building. In fact she made sure that her voice showed no worry and that she felt secure.

"We aren't open yet, though come back tomorrow and I'll have the place running." She doubted he was here for the beer since everyone should know that it hadn't been started yet. And even if it had it was too early to let in customers. But she didn't know what else someone would need her for, not a complete stranger anyway.

A smile returned to it's usual place on Ari's face as Andrea agreed to let her have a chance to think about what she'd been told. She happily took the card with her number on and looked at it. Andrea didn't seem to her as very girly and yet she seemed to have a thing for flowers and summer, well each to their own. Did she have any more questions now? Only a moment ago she had tons rushing round her head and yet now when given the chance, not a single one came to mind, now that was typical. It felt like she was missing an opportunity but she had said that she could answer questions later as well so she would have another chance.

"Thank you and of course, I'll try and let you know as soon as possible. That's all for now I think though I'll have lots to ask later, you've given me a lot to think about. Thanks for telling me all this and I'm really sorry for forgetting you. Oh, there is one thing, were we friends? Were we close?" Ari asked as a last note, she was genuinely curious. She must be a hard person to stay friends with if she just forgot everyone, how many friends had she lost due to her cursed memory? Who knew. She had no idea how it must feel to the people that she'd shared a lot of experiences and memories with when she completely forgot them and looked at them like a stranger. She felt awful about it but there was nothing she could do.

Nick was persistent, to say the least. She let out an exasperated sigh as they got off the elevator. As he wheeled her towards the waiting room, a figure with black hair, green eyes, and a creepy face mask stood up at the sight of them. Was he coming over here? Yup. He began to approach them. Thallen blinked twice as the oh-so-familiar headache began to take effect. It didn't make sense though, since she wasn't using her ability. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. The prescription hadn't been filled yet, so she would have to take one of the pills as soon as she got it back from the pharmacy. From behind her shut lids, a very old memory began to resurface, and she wasn't quite sure why it was there. She definitely hadn't been thinking about it.

"Hey! Will you wait for just a minute, please?!" she pleaded with the fleeting figure. It stopped a few feet in front of her and turned around. A lanky boy with curly brown hair, a thin rounded face, and dull green eyes stood before her. He looked upset, but with what?

"What?" he asked a bit too sharply.

Thallen reached out for his hand and he retracted it quickly, as if her touch caused physical pain. "Will you just let me explain?"

"All right, explain it to me then." His dull green eyes narrowed down on her intimidatingly. "Explain to me why every time I come near you, I some how magically feel different. My emotions change unnaturally. Others too! I've seen it. Explain it to me!" he snapped.

She shook her sadly. Short red hair swung back and forth against her chin. "I... I don't know. It just happens. I swear." Tears streaked her cheeks.

"Bullshit." He spun on his heel and walked away swiftly, leaving her standing alone in the hall.

"Good morning," he started, his voice flat and tired, as his green eyes scanned the two thoroughly, "my name is Vincent Simmons and as I've come to understand the two of your were involved in the robbery yesterday and, thanks to some internet sources, you were also the heroes of the day." The voice caused her to snap her eyes open. This Vincent person grabbed her hand with both of his and began to shake it enthusiastically before doing the same to Nick. Nick did not look too pleased by the gesture. "Talking we," he coughed, "we should talk some, if you have the time."

Thallen smiled at the man awkwardly and shook her head. "I'm sorry. I think you're mistaken. We didn't have anything to do with that. It's nice to meet you Vincent, but we really are in a hurry." His mask threw her off. It was so creepy, and yet he seemed too happy.

"How about I call you? Alright?" Nick pushed on Thallen's wheelchair. Apparently he seemed uncomfortable as well. She winced from the headache in discomfort.

 

"Yeah that was me." Vergil replied. True he did aid in stopping a bank robbery, but he didn't think that someone would actually ask him about. Especially not someone from a questionable magazine.

She had written down possible replies so she wouldn't have too much trouble on the phone. Teagan read over her written messages a couple times, then read over the note again.​

From what she saw, Red Flag didn't seem to be a bad idea... the only part she was unsure about was Alphas being greater... but of course people would go through these things peacefully right? This was all just like a petition right? She could only hope. ​

​

Teagan picked up her yellow cellphone. She did not want her red phone tracked, she kept it encrypted purposefully, calling someone on it that wasn't someone she trusted entirely on it left a trail to follow. Her yellow phone, although more important that the blue phone, was often the phone most broken or lost.​

​

She nervously dialed the number on the card left by Victoria, and held the phone up to her ear and closed her eyes.​

She stayed, waiting in silence. And though she could not read people well she thought that this had been the best approach. So if it failed nothing would work. And that meant she was not at fault.

"I don't have many friends," was the reply when Arianna finally spoke again. "Perhaps two, I think, and they are still close to me." She decided to leave it at that so after a slow nod of the head she began wandering off.

Victoria had not made it far when her phone began ringing. She took out the iPhone with a pink case decorated with white flowers and started at the number displayed. It was not one she noticed, and it wasn't the phone they stored her Red Flag contacts which didn't have names saved for caller ID which made her nervous. So she took a few moments but in the end she finally answered, putting it up to her ear.

"H-hello?"

For as stupid as this one was Alex applauded him for not dancing around the question. That actually made him happy. "Well me and my mates are sort of a sponsor for this group of Alphas and they really like people with active powers like yours. So they sent me to see if you were interested in joining them and their fight for human rights for all of our kind."

Vincent frowned at how eager they were to get out of there. Perhaps he really should have left the talking to Jack. Either way he made sure to step in front of their path, quickly placing a card with his number in the center and a smile under it on Thallen's lap. "If you change you mind any time soon." After that he stepped away, returning to the waiting room where he took a seat and grabbed the first magazine from the stack next to him.

That was most definitely a no, wasn't it? What a shame.

The slightly familiar stuttering reassured her a bit, at first she forgot to respond and just sat there doing nothing for a moment before she shook her head, "U-um, hi. Is this Victoria? This is Teagan O'Brien... you were just over here at my house not too long ago?"​

She felt like she may have been stating the obvious but at least she could make sure she was getting the right person. She shifted her legs on the couch as she watched One hop into the living room.​

This is what I get for giving you more freedoms? Disloyalty? ...fine...​

She motioned for One to hop up on her lap. When they was there she started petting them behind the ears.​

A reply hadn't been excepted this quickly but overall Victoria was glad Teagan was calling her. Even if it was to say no, despite her note saying not to call in that case, it took away the time that would have been spent wondering and worrying. Or at least, that was her guess. "Oh, h-hey. Can I-I help you with something?"

"Um, your note said to call if I was interested in joining... I-I'm interested."​

She was quiet for a moment as she thought about what to say next, "But, you also said you needed to confirm if I was an Alpha or not..." Teagan sat quiet for about a minute, she was having trouble saying it, but she forced herself to trust Victoria, at least enough to tell her, "...I am an Alpha."​

The last sentence seemed forced out, but not in a way that would make it seem like she was lying, more so that she struggled to tell her, it was almost a milestone for someone to hear her say she was an Alpha, the group... she realized they didn't have a name, the group of them at the bank, they were lucky, she wasn't fully sober at the time she helped out.​

She didn't fail! Her first mission was a success! The joy and surprise of that had left the girl speechless for the first few moments of Teagan's reply. Though luckily for her that the one on the other end had paused as well, making hers a little less noticeable. "I'm glad," she finally said. "I-I need to report the good news but go ahead and count yourself an official member!" Through excitement she was able to stutter less, though she hardly noticed. "You can remain living where you are or you can come to one of the bases, we have one pretty much everywhere. They're nice... A-anyway, you'll need to meet our official greeter, I'll get you an appointment for tomorrow. Try to, anyway. Earliest time at least! You can also talk to our leader as well who can answer any questions you may have. Then basically live carries on like normal until mission time."

 

An Alpha. It seemed like the powers that he had gotten some attention. Which would probably mean that the others may be going through the same thing right now. Still, it did sound interesting. "Sure, I'm interested."

He nodded at the reply before inhaling deeply. "That group is Red Flag and I will be needing to know if you will be joining or not. Fight for the cause and all. So yes or no? Or do you need to think it over?"

 

"'I'll need some time to think on it." Vergil replied. This was a lot to take in right now, so he would have to consider it right now.

That answer didn't really surprise her, that girl didn't particularly seem the type to have a large circle of friends, a few close friends fit her impressions of her quite well. The fact that she hadn't been close friends with her wasn't exactly unexpected either, she was probably a nice enough person but not someone that she immediately thought she'd get on really well with. Either way, Andea was intriguing and Ari watched her leave before turning to continue walking towards the bar.


What was she going to do? She was very intrigued and joining them might give her the chance to find out a lot more about her past. That was something worth more than any money to her. What they did sounded reasonable enough too, even if she wasn't that bothered currently. They could be lying to her though, she would be quite easy to deceive with her problems, she didn't know anything. Although in that case how did they know about her, both that she was an alpha and her problems with her memory? They were obviously well aware who she was and how to find her. Also there was the thing of why did she leave? Surly there must have been a reason. The only way to find out the answers to these things was to go back though. She looked at the card in her hand, not knowing if she should or not.

Unlike the others', the card he handed Vergil had only a number and nothing else. He wasn't exactly a member, though he could not say he wasn't with them either. It was a bit of a complex relationship that they had. Either way it was in the target's hand now so he was done here. "Give me a call when you've decided then," stupid yank. And with that he left.

"Did you find that as weird as I did?" Nick said. Thallen nodded her head slowly. Her head hurt too badly anything further. She kept watching him, wondering whom he might be waiting for now. "It'd be faster if I just drove you home. You want to see your daughter as soon as possible right?"

"Mm, yeah. I guess I'll take that ride, after all. Can't have creepers approaching me with Cecelia around." She took her eyes off him of Vincent in the waiting room as they went through the doors.

He pushed on her wheelchair again. "You know, for getting shot, you've taken this a lot better than I thought. You're pretty tough." Nick paused. "And stubborn." He teased.

Thallen couldn't help but laugh through the pain. It was light and airy. Her eyes squinted shut briefly as her lips turned up into a smile. "I could say the same for you. It looks like you're getting your way." When they made it out to the parking lot, she lifted the card from her lap and turned it over in her fingers. She studied the number on the card and pursed her lips. "If we had someone approaching us, then maybe we should warn the others. That weirdo might bother them as well. I mean... he knew where we were and who exactly we are. That's sketchy."

Teagan took basic notes as fast as she could in a notebook, she ended up having to shorten words though that she might forget what they stood for later. When she heard earliest time her heart skipped a bear and she stopped and listened to her finish speaking.​

"W-wait, how early is early... and who is the leader?" Teagan was quiet before she chuckled to ease her nervousness, "Or will that be answered when I meet the um... greeter?"​

Teagan picked up One and put it on the couch next to her, she wasn't sure how the response would go but she might as well ask her now.​

"Uh... I don't know. I-is early too early?" Because if early was too early she would need to change it to later. But it can't be too late given the others. They weren't all as willing to wait as she was. She should have been putting dates and times on early and late but her thoughts were too much of a jumbled mess for her to do so. "A-and sometimes he ends up meeting people and bring them in the group h-himself but most of the time people just meet the leader while or after seeing the greeter..."
