Think about what I'm going to say. Clear your mind of everything else. You are going to die one day. And that's your last chance of living, unless you have a religion or you believe in afterlife and reincarnation and crap like that. But if you died, your brain stops working and your heart, it's not going to send you to heaven but you might just... not be there. You wouldn't feel anything, there would be no time, no anything. You'd just be nothing. It sucks, and I'm scared. :(

    This is a what-if.

    Death is death.

    It's pointless to be scared.

Whether you believe in an afterlife or not, sadly death is one of those things we must come to accept. If you don't believe in anything that comes after, as I don't, I just tend to say 'I don't know what happens' after, so it's really a matter of living the life you have to the most. Experience and enjoy the time you have and try to not focus on what comes later. There's so much to do and see and feel, both good and bad, and it makes us wiser and more complete.

I think at some point everyone goes through the 'what happens when I die' phase and well, some people can take a leap of faith and say it's what a religion says. Others can't. Either way though, life here and now is what matters and if there is anything after, we'll know when that time comes. We are often afraid of the unanswerable question and sometimes toss in things to give us answers but it doesn't have to be that way. Death is not such a big deal really. I can say I've been 'near' death and after that I didn't fear it anymore. It was painful but then it was peaceful and beyond pain etc. I don't think it should be feared but accepted, and meanwhile we should try to live happy, healthy and do our best to enjoy our time in life. I hope this at all alleviates your worries, but in each of us, it comes to some quality soul searching to get over that fear of what is unknown. It does happen though, sooner or later, where even death becomes not such a serious topic that will make people pause from living.
